Devin Haney used to idolize Floyd Mayweather Jr. He wanted to tailor his game after “The Best Ever“, going so far as to use him as a mentor. But that relationship appears to have fully deteriorated and it hit rock bottom on Friday.

Ryan Garcia had shared footage of Haney getting pummeled by Gervonta “Tank” Davis during a sparring session. Despite Garcia admitting that Haney was only 17 at the time against the older Davis, the video has already circulated everywhere on social media.

Haney told Garcia to “eat a d**k” for releasing the video, but then took aim at Mayweather.

None of what Haney says would be too surprising if we delve a little bit deeper. Garcia recently spoke about Mayweather’s influence, and he seems to take what the legendary boxer says very seriously and into account.

Just a couple of days ago, Haney’s father, Bill, made a bold claim that a certain sparring session between Haney and Mayweather was a big reason why the then-40-year-old decided to walk away from boxing. Mayweather retired that same year after beating Conor McGregor.

We’re still 50 days away from Haney vs. Garcia, but it’s already been a chaotic start to the fight’s build-up.

Ahead of the bout scheduled for April 20th, at the press conference in New York, Ryan Garcia made a spectacle, bantering with Devin Haney. Besides boldly expressing that he desired to stop the WBC Super-Lightweight champion with only his “right hand“, ‘KingRy’ promised to retire professionally given he was knocked out by ‘The Dream’ in the very first round of their fight. But, the boxing world raised an eyebrow when Haney alleged that Garcia arrived drunk at their press conference.

Infuriated by Devin’s allegation, Garcia claimed he would “drink beer” and still “beat the f**k out of” Haney. Soon, the situation was aggravated when Garcia later smoked w**d live on social media, claiming he was “high as f**k“. At this, while the boxing community questioned Garcia’s integrity, Claressa Shields, the undisputed Middleweight champion, reacted to Garcia’s antics.

At the New York press conference, Devin Haney claimed Garcia lacked the IQ, skills, and heart required to face ‘The Dream’. In addition to that, Haney referred to Garcia’s fight with Gervonta Davis. In the 7th round of their fight, Davis hit Garcia with a powerful body shot which led ‘KingRy’ to quit. Therefore, Haney said, “We’ve seen you take a knee, and it won’t be no different. When it gets hot, you quit.” However, Garcia claimed he would beat Haney up intoxicated.

At this, reacting to Garcia’s comments, Claressa Shields wrote, “Y’all i can’t breathe! Ryan said he drink & smoke weed!!!! this is the craziest press conference I’ve ever seen!” Anyway, even though Shields found Garcia’s banter with Haney entertaining, she thought Garcia was being over the top. Likewise, in a follow-up, Shields said, “I think the trash talk is too much for Ryan Garcia.”

In this context, it is worth mentioning that Shields is not the only person who feels Garcia crossed a line. In his latest interview with Fight Hub TV, even Caleb Plant implied that ‘KingRy’ was being carried away by his emotion. However, Garcia is scarcely bothered by Plant or Shields’ comments. As a result, the 25-year-old rode a horse to the LA press conference today to startle his fans more. Anyway, what do you make of Claressa’s reaction to Garcia’s trash talk?

The feud between ex-rivals Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia is getting hotter with each tweet and press conference. Amidst all the rising tension, ‘KingRy’, who recently mocked his opponent by wearing a T-shirt of Haney and P Diddy, who is in controversy lately, seems to not be stopping there. And now, continuing to take shots, he has leaked the infamous video of Haney being rocked by the boxing sensation Gervonta Davis. However, taking Garcia’s earlier statement into account, this move might bitter his relationship with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

It’s no longer a secret that Garcia and Mayweather have a strong bond. They often spend time together and are even spotted together at NBA games. However, Garcia might have damaged the relationship by sharing a video of Haney vs. Tank.

Recently, Garcia admitted that Mayweather had shown him the infamous video. Now, by sharing the video with the world, Garcia is taking things a step further and potentially risking the wrath of the boxing legend himself.

There is no doubt that Garcia’s recent moves have really heated up the rivalry, and added fuel to fire. And if people start questioning where he got the video from, things could get even messier between Garcia and Mayweather. Meanwhile, Haney has shared his take on the leaked video.

What did Devin Haney say about Ryan Garcia leaking the Gervonta Davis rocking him?

Devin Haney clearly wasn’t impressed with Garcia’s move. In response, he pointed out that the video Garcia posted doesn’t tell the whole story and highlights that he was only 16 years old at the time when he got wobbled by Tank’s shot. Adding to that, Haney mocked Garcia, mentioning that the world has seen him getting defeated by Davis on the big stage. He confidently stated that he’ll show his true skills on April 20, the fight day. In his words,

Not only that, but he also shared a photo of Garcia getting knocked down after Tank’s shot, leveling the score for now. With all this trash-talking and the rivalry heating up, there’s no doubt that more fans are now pumped to witness two of the current top boxing stars in the ring.

Keith Thurman isn’t Ryan Garcia. But why does he stress this? Garcia, once undefeated, met his match in Gervonta Davis during their historic April 2023 bout. A brutal body shot in the seventh round sealed Garcia’s fate, marking his first professional loss in a dramatic fashion. It wasn’t just a loss; it was a pivotal moment where Ryan faced a significant setback in his rising career.

Thurman, observing from afar, with a seasoned record of 30-1, draws a distinct line between himself and Garcia. Is it confidence or a subtle taunt? Thurman sees something in Garcia’s downfall that he confidently knows doesn’t apply to him. What could it be?

Keith Thurman believes Ryan Garcia had immaturity going into the Tank fight

In the heart of a revealing interview with ESNews, Keith Thurman sheds light on his perspective, offering a critical view of Ryan Garcia’s defeat at the hands of Gervonta Davis. Thurman suggests, “It was evident that Ryan Garcia had immaturity going into that fight, okay? We know this in boxing, that even with talent, you should groom him, right? He had skills, but he was not well-groomed, and it was evident in the performance.”

Furthermore, Thurman distinguishes himself from Garcia, stating, “Keith Thurman is solid, solidified, well-groomed, and that’s why I said I’m not a Ryan Garcia. No disrespect to Ryan Garcia.” This declaration not only highlights Thurman’s confidence in his own preparation and mental fortitude but also sets the stage for the interviewer’s next question, which directly addresses the potential of a fight between Thurman and Davis.

Responding to whether he could beat Tank Davis, Thurman confidently replies, “Oh, I mean, it’s the Thurman test. If you can beat me, beat me. But boy, is it going to be a challenge.” Through this conversation, Thurman articulates a clear message: he is a different breed of fighter, one who is not only aware of his own capabilities but also keenly observant of the nuances that separate the champions from the contenders.

Ryan and Davis’ fans might think that Keith Thurman is just yapping here, but they aren’t the only ones. Tim Tszyu, who is set to fight Thurman on March 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, also thinks that Thurman talks a bit too much.

Tim Tszyu didn’t hold back when responding to Keith Thurman’s comments about him, questioning the logic behind his statements. “I’m not sure what he’s implying there. Maybe he thinks I’m easy to hit?” Tszyu retorted. Tszyu further dissected Thurman’s character, stating, “The guy doesn’t think before he speaks. He’s just a little yapper.”

He drew parallels between Thurman’s pre-fight antics with Manny Pacquiao and his current behavior. “And I’ve always found the bigger the dog, the less they bark. But Chihuahuas, they’re [going to] yap. It’s all for show,” Tszyu added, painting Thurman as more bark than bite in the buildup to their potential showdown.

When words turn into punches, who will have the last word? Will Thurman’s experience and self-assuredness prevail, or will Tszyu’s determination and critique of Thurman’s approach prove to be the winning formula?

Ryan Garcia believes that Gervonta Davis’ power isn’t as big of a deal as claimed.

‘KingRy’ recently signed a deal to return to the boxing ring against Devin Haney on April 20. For Garcia, the fight will be his first since a knockout win over Oscar Duarte in December. That stoppage victory was an incredibly important one for the former interim champion.

The bout took place just months after Garcia suffered the first defeat of his career against ‘Tank’. Last April, the two stars met in Las Vegas in the biggest pay-per-view of the year. Despite some early success in the opening round from Garcia, it was largely dominated by Davis.

In the closing seconds of round two, Davis flattened Garcia. While the young boxer was able to climb off the canvas, he wound up being stopped in the seventh round by a body shot. Nearly a year on from that bout, Garcia was asked to rate Davis’ power in an interview.

Speaking with Jack Alter, Garcia argued that the lightweight champion doesn’t hit that hard. Instead, it’s Davis’ precise punching that causes more damage than anything. In the interview, ‘KingRy’ stated (via Boxing Social):

Ryan Garcia wants Gervonta Davis with no weight requirements attached.

Immediately following his loss to ‘Tank’ last April, the former champion instantly called for a rematch. Given the lopsided nature of the bout, however, it seems that the calls went on deaf ears.

The boxer stated:

Since the confirmation of the Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney fight, drama has been filling the feed up. Both fighters have had some of the grandest careers. Haney has dominated the 135lbs division before moving to 140lbs and winning a title after beating Regis Prograis. Garcia was undefeated and dominated every fight until he faced Gervonta Davis.

Garcia was also involved in beef with his own promoter Oscar De La Hoya following which he was seen going around with Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. This new-found friendship between Mayweather and Garcia was not taken very well by everyone in the community. One such person was Bill Haney who made a post making fun of the duo, let us see how.

This reply from Haney came after Garcia called him out for ‘p*mping’ women.

In the end, Haney warned Garcia and Mayweather that on 20th April, playtime is done. However, this was not the first time that Haney got back at Garcia.

The former Interim World Lightweight champion got divorced from his wife Andrea Celina. This came right after the couple had their first child as well. Bill saw this as a great opportunity to fire back at Garcia. He said, “Here ya go kid(Ryan Garcia), read this and your ex wife will magically walk back in your life and you will live happily ever after.”

The two have been going at it against each other for some time now. Garcia had also told Haney to keep a towel ready for his son on April 20th. The feud has now become all the Haneys against Garcia.

Do you think Garcia with Mayweather’s guidance will overpower the Haneys? Or will this fight be another upset for Garcia?
