Would a rematch between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall be interesting? While Marshall has expressed her keen interest in facing Shields again inside the ring for quite some time now, her trainer has now revealed that things may be finally in the works. In response, Shields too has accepted such a prospect, even suggesting some venues for the much-anticipated fights. In their last boxing match in 2022, Shields and Marshall fought neck-and-neck, giving their fans a good show for their money. With each attack one threw at the other, her opponent came with a befitting response. In the end, though, the ‘GWOAT’ prevailed. She won the O2 Arena fight on points. Since then, both fighters have had a constant back-and-forth regarding a rematch. However, now it seems like they may soon run it back again.

While the trainer is certain that the fight will happen in boxing format, lately, his fighter, Marshall, has been rallying to face off against Shields inside an MMA cage.

On June 8, the Silent Assassin will undertake her in-cage debut in a PFL event. The undertaking comes almost a year after she became the undisputed super-middleweight champion in a majority decision victory over Franchon Crews-Dezurn in Manchester. As she spoke of her interest in MMA, she explained why she is entering the combat format, and it has to do with her infamous rival, Shields also dipping her toes in the MMA waters.

Speaking about that fight, Marshall noted, “I saw her in her last fight live, and now I know what I’m looking at on the ground I know how hard it is because watching her first two fights, I thought she was terrible. But now I know how hard it is, changing your boxing and defending takedowns, you aren’t just looking at fists, you’re looking at feet and I get it.”
