Now that we know the proposed rules for an exhibition are designed to protect an elderly Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul, who has close friends like Dana White extremely concerned about him. The UFC president was so worried that he reached out to Mike’s wife, Lakiha ‘Kiki’ Spicer to ask if Tyson was absolutely certain he wanted to fight. Fortunatey, what Dana White heard from her made him feel at ease. In a recent podcast interview, White was asked about the previous comments he made about the fight. Famously, White disapproved of this event even taking place due to Mike Tysons age. But he seems to be more accepting of what is about to happen on July 20.

Dana White explains why Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson isn't a “serious” fight - Dexerto

Dana White revealed that the Tyson family seems to have everything under control. However, they also revealed the offer was impossible to refuse. He said: “I talked to his wife a couple of days ago and he’s taking it serious and he’s training for it. I think Mike Tyson is one of the most unique guys who has crossed over. Any of the other fighters from his generation have no way of making money without fighting and Mike Tyson has made a lot of money outside of fighting. Tyson still has that aura that you could be in a restaurant, you’d be like ‘Holy f***, Mike Tyson is here.’ He still has that aura and energy in a room, he makes lots of money outside of the ring. But I think he ends up getting these offers that he can’t refuse.”

So much people talking about what they feel Mike Tyson should do, nobody is asking the former champ how he feels about all this concern for his well-being. All we see from him are those training videos that do look frightening as he is still ripped and looking just as scary as ever. But stepping on that ring will be an entirely different feeling for a man who is pushing 58 and has suffered many body ache issues over the last decade. Hopefully, Tyson can at least come out of this experience in one piece both mentally and physically.

Mike Tyson will step back in the ring this summer – 19 years after his last pro fight – to face YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul.

In 2005, ‘Iron Mike’, one of the most feared heavyweights in history, bid a sad farewell to the sport as he quit on his stool against the unheralded Kevin McBride in Washington D.C.

And even as his career was coming to an end, SHOWTIME commentator Steve Albert’s introduction to their pay-per-view offering on June 11, 2005, showed Tyson still had his aura that had seen him storm through the heavyweight division in the 1980s and earn the nickname the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’.

“Despite the prevailing opinion that Mike Tyson is shot, unfocused and undisciplined, this has elements of a short, painful night for Kevin McBride,” said Albert.

He was 38 years old, had been knocked out by Britain’s Danny Williams in his last fight and spent 11 months out of the ring since, but the Tyson phenomenon lived on regardless.

A crowd of 20,000 packed out the MCI Arena to witness the former undisputed heavyweight world champion in action, fully believing their hero would roll back the clock to produce another scintillating KO.

Irish journeyman McBride was the opponent selected for the occasion – his record not telling the full story.

The 32-year-old had accumulated his 32 wins by facing a host of lower-tier fighters and then suffered defeats whenever he stepped up in class.

McBride was even beaten by Michael Murray, a man who ended his career losing 17 of his last 18 fights, with the only bout he won being the one against McBride.

While the Irishman is said to have earned $150,000 for the contest, Tyson was reportedly paid $5million – most of which went to his ex-wife and creditors.

However, Tyson was not the most iconic sporting figure at the MCI Arena that night.

After arriving at the venue, Tyson received a visit in his dressing room from the ‘Greatest Of All Time’ himself, Muhammad Ali.

Paul stated, “So Conor, you’re saying the interest is low for the fight, but the last fight you announced, there was a thousand articles written in a multi-day span, people talking about your last fight.”

“In that same multiple-day span, there were ten thousand articles written about this. No fight ever has done these numbers in terms of face-off views and Instagram reels. Just on our main pages alone, it’s like 50 or 60 million Instagram views on both of our posts.”

Mike Tyson has sent Jake Paul a fresh warning ahead of their fight this summer.

Earlier this month the boxing world was stunned by the announcement that Mike Tyson will return to the ring to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

The fight is scheduled to take place on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Former heavyweight world champion Tyson will be 58 by then, and will enter the ring for the first time since he fought Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition fight in November 2020.

The outside noise clearly isn’t bothering Tyson though, who is busy preparing for the fight that could reportedly earn him more than £15 million.

Videos have emerged on social media of Tyson training, although some have claimed the footage is not from this year.

Whatever anybody else thinks, Tyson is certainly confident that he will beat his younger challenger.

“I want to see how hard he hits. Mike, I really want to see, bro. Let’s see all the legends, the myths, because you’re Iron Mike Tyson, but I have an iron chin, people know that. I take shots. I think people are underestimating me being able to deal with his power, and that’s something that’s going to make it interesting,” Paul said on his BS podcast.

“I am biting off a lot. This is definitely the toughest, most savage, lethal opponent regardless of age, because the power is the last thing to go. The reaction and reception of it is insane. I almost can’t even believe it, so very surreal and very, very grateful for all of that. We’re going to see. I’m excited. I literally can’t wait to look across the ring and see him and give him a f****** death stare.”

Fine details for the fight, such as the amount of rounds and contracted weight, are yet to be revealed. Paul and Tyson are hoping for it to be sanctioned as a professional bout but the Texas Commission will have the final say. The fight will air live on Netflix and Paul thinks it won’t be the streaming giant’s only venture into combat sports.

“I did the face-off, and then I walked away and I just laughed to myself. I was like, ‘Ha! This is insane.’ On my screen, my eyeballs are the ones facing off against Mike Tyson, and I just couldn’t believe it. The fact that it’s on Netflix, I think that’s going to really revolutionise the game in boxing. I think streaming could eventually be a very bright future for the sport,” he added.

Jake Paul’s bold comments on boxing have stirred the pot again. This time, it’s about Ryan Garcia’s defeat. Garcia, floored by Gervonta Davis with a body shot, couldn’t rise on 20th April 2023. The moment was intense, and pivotal in the bout’s outcome. Meanwhile, Paul gears up for an unexpected ring return on 20th July.

His opponent? Boxing legend Mike Tyson. Yes, Tyson, 30 years older than Paul, is stepping back into the fray. Could Paul’s critique of Garcia come back to haunt him? Fans definitely are making him regret that.

Jake Paul didn’t mince words on the B/S Podcast. The conversation unfolded with the co-host probing, “What do you think the odds are that the fight with him and Devin Haney actually goes through and happens?” Without hesitation, Paul estimated, “I would say it’s like a 50-50.” But it was his next remark that turned heads. When asked about his pick for the fight, Paul declared, “Devin. He’s gonna smoke him.”

He elaborated, criticizing Garcia’s dedication and heart. “One person who’s been in the gym taking the sport seriously, Ryan, isn’t taking it seriously,” he argued, “and he showed me his lack of heart by not getting up off the canvas when he basically quit.” The conversation didn’t end there. Touching upon a potential future matchup with Ryan Garcia, Paul expressed, “As like an exhibition, probably. I would love to just like deflate his little 130 pounds.” This candid exchange set the stage for the uproar to follow, as Paul’s stark assessments ignited a firestorm of reactions

This fan added a touch of humor to the critique, “If dude got hit with that same body shot he’d probably be in the hospital straight up😂.”

You all remember the time when during a press event for the Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul fight, Jake Paul stole the show. When Jake stole Floyd’s cap, Logan Paul already knew this was happening but he wasn’t expecting the over-the-top reaction from the legendary boxer. Clearly, he loudly threatened to kill Jake Paul multiple times. In fact, when the whole event happened, there were people from Mayweather’s entourage who punched Jake Paul in the head. The bad blood was palpable and Floyd had to go on Barstool Sports’ Sundae Conversation right after it happened. But for Jake Paul, life has been kind of dangerous since that happened.

Jake Paul Said He'd Struggle Watching Logan Paul Box Floyd Mayweather

During an interview on the ‘In Depth with Graham Bensinger show, Logan Paul revealed that Jake Paul still has a 24-hour security team with him when he goes to Miami. This is out of fear for the death threats he got directly from Floyd Mayweather when the incident took place. He said: “Jake has not been without a security guard since that moment. What the f*** do we know about Miami, bro? Floyd knows Miami, he’s been around the block,’ claiming ‘he got goons who kill a man for $200. He told me he was gonna do it, I didn’t think he was gonna do it. He did it, and I felt like Jake had put me in jeopardy. If I break my hand, or get a concussion or get f****d up by Floyd’s guys a month before the biggest moment of my life, trying to save my little brother’s a**, that’s stupid.”

During the same interview, Logan Paul also revealed he has been approached two other times by Floyd Mayweather’s team to fight again. Although this time, Loan Paul is asking a 50-50 purse split instead of the 85-15 from the first fight. Then there is also the alleged lawsuit that Logan Paul has against Floyd for failing to pay him the money from that fight. After a while, Logan did mention that problem was finally sorted out. What ever that means. Currently, Jake Paul is going to do a similar event to what Logan did against Floyd but with Mike Tyson involved. Whether you like them or hate them, by July 21st this year, both of the Paul brothers will have fought two of boxing’s biggest legends.

Diaz has called for a trilogy fight with Conor McGregor at the Sphere in Las Vegas, but he’s also in talks for a rematch with Jorge Masvidal, who beat him at UFC 244 in November 2019.
