Mike Tyson will be 58 when he faces Jake Paul in a boxing match in July and the former heavyweight champion has been warned he will only last two rounds.
Mike Tyson has been warned that he will only last two rounds against Jake Paul, regardless of his training efforts. The boxing legend, known as ‘Iron Mike’, will be 58 when he steps into the ring on July 20 in Texas to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul, who is three decades his junior.
Tyson’s last fight was an eight-round exhibition bout against fellow boxing icon Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. He retired mid-fight in his last professional match nearly 20 years ago.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are set to meet in an exhibition bout later this year – and Iron Mike has finally confirmed the rules for the bout when speaking in an interview
Mike Tyson has confirmed his bout with Jake Paul will be an exhibition – but it will still be a fight.
Iron Mike, 57, will square off with YouTube star Paul, 27, this summer at the AT&T Stadium. However, the bout has been criticised by fans, who have also speculated over the rules of the fight.

Speaking on Fox Sports, Tyson addressed those concerns. He said: “This is called exhibition, but if you look up exhibition, you will not see any of the laws we are fighting under. This is a fight.”
There has also been criticism for the age gap between the pair, but Tyson doesn’t appeared to be worried. He added: “I don’t think he’s faster than me.
“I’ve seen a YouTube video of him at 16 doing weird dancing, [but] that’s not the guy I’m fighting. This is a guy who’s going to try and hurt me, which I’m accustomed to, and he’s going to be greatly mistaken.”
He’s been back in the gym stepping up his preparations for Paul, who he will meet in the ring on July 20. The fight will be streamed live on Netflix for their subscribers.
Jake Paul believes his punches will be just as hard as Mike Tyson’s on fight night, and new training footage suggests he could be right.
Jake Paul is certainly not a man who lacks any confidence, with his fighting talk in the build up to his next fight definitely backing that up. As we all know, The Problem Child is set to take to the ring to fight Mike Tyson on the 20th of July in a fight that transcends anything seen before in the world of influencer boxing. The build-up has already involved lots of online chatter back and forth between the two fighters, with each man trying to out do one another with ‘braggadocious’ posts.

Paul has also not been shy to run his mouth regularly on his podcast, with the latest episode providing some pretty interesting sound bites to say the least. A clip for the episode has been doing the rounds on social media over the last few days, showing Paul making a pretty bold claim while sitting with rapper Lil Pump.
Jake Paul’s Punch Power
When asked about his skill level compared to that of Tyson, Paul confidently states his belief that he can punch at the same level as his upcoming opponent, stating: “To the people that don’t think I’m going to win, I’m younger, faster, sharper, and can hit at the same level that he can, and I am able to take his punches.”
However, he does follow up on that statement by admitting he is “a little scared” because he knows when standing across the ring from Mike Tyson there will be a moment of disbelief that he is actually fighting the legendary heavyweight boxer.
Lil Pump responded to Paul’s confident claim by backing up his pal and telling him he should have no issues with getting the win.
Jake Paul Drops Lil Pump
This clip was then followed by a behind the scenes shot of Paul doing some light “sparring” with Lil Pump, with the rapper perhaps regretting his decision to get in the ring with Paul. The pair are gloved up with Pump standing with his arms in the air ready to take a body shot from Paul, in some strange offer to prove he can take a punch from his mate. The outcome is not good, however, for the rapper, as he is hit with a clean body shot which leads to a loud scream before he drops to the floor in agony, as Paul laughs it off.

We hardly think a clip of Lil Pump getting dropped by Paul is going to be enough to intimidate Mike Tyson, but any clip going viral of Paul’s fighting ability is good promo for the fight. The crazy part is we still have months to wait, with the back and forth on social media not showing any signs of slowing down.
Paul may have to find some better ways of scaring Mike Tyson that don’t involve Lil Pump, and hopefully, he realises all the fighting talk he is doing on his podcast will be there forever, so if things go wrong in the ring, people will be quick to remind him of his pre-fight confidence.
Tyson admitted his fight against Paul this summer will be an exhibition but shut down any talk of the pair wearing headgear or 18-ounce gloves in the ring
Mike Tyson has dismissed rumours that his fight against Jake Paul will take place with headgear and big gloves.
Boxing legend ‘Iron Mike’ is making a return to the ring on July 20 when he faces social media sensation Paul in one of the biggest and most controversial fights of the year. The fight will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas and there could be up to 80,000 fans in attendance on the night.

Tyson has admitted the fight will be sanctioned as an exhibition, meaning it won’t go on his or Paul’s professional records. Many of the fight rules are still unclear but when put to Tyson that he would be wearing 16oz gloves and a headguard, he told Fox News : “No, not true, not true at all. This is called an exhibition, but if you look up exhibition, you won’t see any of the laws we’re fighting under. This is a fight.
“I don’t think he’s faster than me. I’ve seen a YouTube video of him at 16 doing weird dancing. That’s not the guy I’m fighting. This is a guy who’s going to try and hurt me, which I’m accustomed to, and he’s going to be greatly mistaken. As the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it’s reality, and in reality I’m invincible.”
Tyson hasn’t fought since going eight rounds against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. The 57-year-old said he was extremely out of shape for that fight and he is already training for his bout with Paul despite it still being three months away. Tyson admitted he is scared ahead of his boxing return but thinks the nerves will benefit him.

“I have a weird personality – I don’t think it’s weird though. Whatever I’m afraid to do, I do it. That’s how it is,” Tyson added. “I was afraid of the Roy [Jones] fight. I was 100 pounds overweight, I was however old, 54, 53, and I said ‘Let’s do it.’ Anything I’m afraid of, I confront it. That’s my personality. Right now, I’m scared to death.”
It’s understood that no winner be will declared in Paul and Tyson’s fight, meaning no judges will score the fight. Details of the undercard are also still unclear as the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations [TDLR] said the only information they have received about the Paul vs Tyson event so far is the date.
With many questioning whether the bout will actually be a fight, the former heavyweight champion has insisted that the stakes will be very real. Really?
When news of the bout was first announced, many celebrated what they hoped would be an opportunity to see the former YouTube star get his clock cleaned. Faced with arguably the most dangerous fighter in boxing history, surely there could be no other outcome. Yet, as details of the rules began to emerge, it started to look more like a dance rehearsal than a boxing match. Now, the former heavyweight world champion says that’s not the case.
Mike Tyson insists the Jake Paul fight is the real deal
While the banter ahead of a boxing match is always laden with barbs and threats, one does get the feeling that ahead of Mike Tyson’s July 20th fight with Jake Paul, there is a certain element of justification mixed in with the normal chatter. Indeed, many have called the rules of the fight farcical as they appeared to significantly protect Paul. Interestingly, Tyson has now insisted that while the bout won’t be considered official – it’s an exhibition match – it will not have the restrictions that such matches normally do.

Speaking earlier this week, the fight legend spoke to the idea that he is taking Paul seriously though he believes he will be victorious. “This is called an exhibition, but if you look up exhibition, you will not see any of the laws that we’re fighting under. This is a fight. I don’t think he’s faster than me. I’ve seen a YouTube of him at 16 doing weird dances. That’s not the guy I’m going to be fighting. This guy is going to come, he’s going to try to hurt me, which I’m accustomed to. He’s going to be greatly mistaken.”
So, what can we expect from Tyson vs Paul?
That’s a good question. For the moment, what we know is that Netflix is set to livestream the event from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Aside from that and a reported $20 million payday for Mike Tyson, not much else is known, including what Jake Paul himself is set to earn. It’s worth noting that according to reports, the promoters of the fight have not provided any details to the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation which could also be why information is scarce.
On July 20, Tyson will come out of retirement and take on Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
When confirming the fight, Paul wrote on social media: “Whether you’re tuning in on Netflix or showing out in person, whether you’re team Paul or team Tyson, or whether you’re a lifelong boxing fan or watching your first fight, you’re not going to want to miss this event.
“I could not be more excited to make this amazing fight available to all Netflix subscribers alongside the hardest hitter of all time, Mike Tyson, on Saturday, July 20th.

“My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep.”
Ahead of the bout, Tyson confirmed the rules of the fight during an interview with Fox News.
The 57-year-old said: “This is called an exhibition, but if you look up exhibition, you will not see any of the laws that we are fighting under, this is a fight.
“I don’t think he’s faster than me. I’ve seen a YouTube of him at 16 doing weird dances, that’s not the guy I’m going to be fighting.”
When asked if he wants to teach Paul a lesson, Tyson said: “I will do just that but dislike him? No, I don’t have a grudge against him. He’s beautiful.”

Another tweeted: “He thinks that he’s beautiful.”
A third fan added: “Hahaha why is he randomly calling Jake beautiful at the end.”
Speaking about Paul, he added: “This guy’s gonna come, he’s gonna try and hurt me which I’m accustomed to and he’s gonna be greatly mistaken.

Mike Tyson is set to make his boxing return on July 20 when he takes on Jake Paul, but the former heavyweight champion has been warned he shouldn’t be fighting at his age
Mike Tyson has been warned to stay away from the boxing ring ahead of his fight against Jake Paul.
Tyson is set to return to boxing on July 20 when he takes on social media star Jake Paul at the massive AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Both Paul and Tyson want their fight to be recognised as a professional bout, but that decision will be made by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.

There is a huge 30-year age gap between Paul and Tyson, who will be 58 on the night of the fight. Many boxing fans are worried for ‘Iron Mike’ after several of his recent training videos went viral.
Irish boxing legend Barry McGuigan is among those who have criticised the fight, saying Tyson shouldn’t be taking hits to the head at his age. “You can be sure money’s got something to do with it,” McGuigan told The Sun (via the Mirror.)
“The governing body should be seriously badly reprimanded for that, getting a 57-year-old guy in to box. That’s just really stupid and irresponsible. He shouldn’t be near a boxing ring at 57 years old. It’s just very irresponsible. It’s very dangerous.

“The problem with so many of these influencers boxing is that the general public think anybody can do it. They can’t. That’s what annoys the professional fighters about these influencers.”
Shane McGuigan, son of Barry and coach to Adam Azim and Daniel Dubois, also criticised Paul for fighting Tyson well past his prime. He said: “They’re trying to steal headlines in the sense, ‘OK, let’s bring in Mike Tyson’ because he’s done it all. It just discredits what he’s done in his career.
“He’s the face of boxing. Jake Paul’s not going to put on his YouTube channel when he spars bad or when he feels c**p and he’s upset and he’s crying or he’s frustrated.

“He’s only putting on the good days. Kids just wanna see glitz and glamour and gossip. This sport’s a real hard sport and you can’t fake it, you can’t just suddenly get to a world title. You can’t just turn up one day without any training. You’ve got to put the hours and work in and it’s brutal.”
Jake Paul has left a good impression in his role as a boxer. In his short career, the influencer has a 9-1 record; however, his next opponent is none other than Mike Tyson, and according to former boxer Roy Jones Jr., “Iron Mike” could be more than the “Terrible Child” can handle.
Jones, champion in four different weight divisions, was Tyson’s most recent rival. Officially retired in 2017, Jones Jr. returned to the ring to face Tyson in an eight-round exhibition fight four years ago.

JAKE PAUL’S business partner has shut down wild rumours surrounding the rules for his fight with Mike Tyson.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul and heavyweight icon Tyson are to collide in a controversial clash on July 20 in Texas.
But there is yet to be any confirmation on the rules or whether it will be a professionally sanctioned bout or an exhibition.
There were baseless claims on social media that the fight would be contested in 16oz gloves opposed to 10oz, the rounds would be over two minutes instead of three and no judges would score the bout.

The rumours were completely made up and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, set the record straight.
Bidarian said: “Breaking news, there is no news. Stop spreading fake news. There’s no truth to all this stuff around Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.
“Here’s what is true, one; Mike Tyson is in unbelievable shape and training like he hasn’t in many, many years and is looking scary for Jake Paul.
“Two, there are no tickets for sale. If you bought tickets those are tickets that don’t exist.
“Three, over 85,000 people have signed up to get access to tickets when they go on sale. This is going to be a historic event.”

Paul is 9-1 as a boxer who suffered his only defeat to Tyson’s brother Tommy in February 2023, but has won three since.
Meanwhile, Tyson retired in 2005 but did return in 2020 for an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr, which ended in an eight-round draw.
That bout was not officially sanctioned and was competed 12oz gloves, over two minute rounds without headguards on.
