The boxing world had thus far seen them bickering. Events took a downturn when an online spat ensued between Ryan Garcia and Shakur Stevenson following the latter’s fight with Edwin De Los Santos in November last year. However, as it appears, the two seem to have agreed to put things at rest.

Recorded audio clips of Ryan Garcia and Shakur Stevenson have been gaining traction. The two reportedly joined a conversation on the X/Twitter space. In an animated discourse, they have seemingly agreed to fight. However, it is subject to a precondition. It seems a lot of it depends on Abdul Wahid (or, previously, Gervonta Davis).

Michael Benson shared in an Instagram post that an energetic exchange seems to have led Ryan Garcia and Shakur Stevenson to agree to a match. The message read, “‼️ Ryan Garcia and Shakur Stevenson are going at it on a Twitter today as Ryan agrees to fight Shakur after Devin Haney: “If I don’t get the rematch with Gervonta Davis, you have my word, we’ll fight.

Will you fight me if you win April 20th? That’s the question.” Stevenson could be heard checking with Garcia. The former interim lightweight champion stated matter-of-factly that he’s looking forward to a rematch with ‘Tank’. However, if it doesn’t materialize, then talks about a fight between the two could be initiated. “I want the rematch with ‘Tank’; if I can’t, we’ll start talking,” he said.

Shakur Stevenson sounded doubtful. However, the Californian boxer clarified why he would hesitate to fight with him when he’s already duked it out with ‘Tank’ and is now going to face Devin Haney. He expressed doubt about whether fans would be keen to watch their match.

Stevenson then sought confirmation. He said, “Okay so so can you give me your word that if you come out, even if you don’t come out victorious …will you fight me next will you fight me next?

Pat came the reply. “If I don’t get the rematch for Tank, I will do it; you have my word, you have my word,” said Ryan Garcia.

As most fans remember, Ryan Garcia and then Gervonta Davis fought a non-title bout in April last year. The duel ended with a seventh-round technical knockout win for the Baltimorean.

The match between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia took place at a catchweight of 136 pounds. Per the contract signed, a rematch would take place only if the Baltimorean lost the fight. Nevertheless, Ryan Garcia also made it clear subsequently that a rematch with ‘Tank would happen at 140 pounds only, without any rehydration clause. As it appears, the WBA lightweight champion doesn’t display any intent of moving out of the 135-pound bracket at least anytime soon. So going by what Garcia said today, does it mean we have a Shakur fight lined up next?

So after ‘Tank’ and Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia has nearly bagged the coveted Shakur Stevenson fight. It’s an effort worthy of every ounce of appreciation.

Gervonta Davis’ punching power was proved once again when he took on the punch machine challenge.

The hard-hitting 5ft 5ins unbeaten American boxing star has a stunning record of 29-0 (27 KOs) – which gives him a 93 per cent knockout ratio.

His next fight looks set to be against Frank Martin on June 15, and fans will be expecting another KO.

And it’s easy to see why when you look back to Tank’s history of proving his power.

Prior to Deontay Wilder vs Dominic Breazeale in 2019, both heavyweights made separate appearances on the Inside PBC Boxing show to give interviews and test their strength on the punch machine.

Coincidentally, a young Davis was on the same programme as Breazeale and so also had a go at the challenge.

Wilder sent a rhyming video message to the pair before the show began and challenged them both to beat his high score of 927, that he previously set with his weaker left hand.

Gervonta Davis and Jay-Z have made the headlines together yet again. After giving an inspirational speech to Gervonta Davis ahead of the marquee contest against Ryan Garcia in 2023, he again mentioned the name of the Baltimore native on the stage. However, this time, he didn’t do something inspirational, instead he used his rhyming skills to utter his name through one of his live verses.

Jay-Z used a reference to Gervonta Davis during his rap at a live concert, which was a way of expressing his love for his favorite boxer. During the concert, Jay-Z sang, “Face keeps popping up, On the tube, I am just watching Tank box him up.” Well, it’s safe to say that Davis felt honored to get mentioned by one of the best rappers in the history of hip-hop. So, Davis showed his gratitude towards Jay-Z on the X app as well.

Legendary rapper Jay-Z played a key role in Gervonta Davis’ dominant victory over Ryan Garcia in 2023. Before entering the ring, Davis was fired up by a motivational speech delivered by Jay-Z. The powerful words, undoubtedly, fueled his determination as he stepped out to the energetic sounds of Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa.” Davis went on to secure a knockout win, extending his undefeated record and handing Garcia his first professional loss.

Now, after being referenced in a Jay-Z track, he responded to the video and added two emojis in the reactions. He used the ‘salute’ emoji to pay his respect to the rap legend. Moreover, he also followed up his reactions with a follow-up tweet. In the tweet, Tank wrote, “Some think it’s impossible until it’s done..don’t slow me down bruv, I got a lot of heart!

Well, this might be taken as a random post, but it came only a few hours after Tank responded to Jay-Z’s reference. Besides the inspirational speech, Davis also received crucial advice from Jay-Z personally before his fight against Ryan Garcia.

Boxer Gervonta Davis, nicknamed “Tank,” is undefeated in the ring and building a reputation outside of it as well. This celebrity status is further fueled by his connections in the music industry. Tank counts megastars like Drake and Jay-Z as friends.

Furthermore, he was with these stars, nights before he faced ‘KingRy’. During that meetup, he spent some alone time with Jay-Z, where the rapper gave him crucial advice. Davis recalled in an interview, “Yeah, he’s telling me like, ‘Stay focused’. He’s just telling me certain stuff like what the other guy [Ryan Garcia] is doing. I don’t wanna say it because I don’t want him to know it. But he tells me like, ‘You stay on point,’ and tells me his [Garcia’s] mistakes and stuff like that.

Is Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid after converting to Islam, underestimating Frank Martin whom ‘Tank’ is rumored to face in June this year? Well, given Davis’ resume in the sport, the popular opinion is that Gervonta will easily bear down Martin. However, Errol Spence Jr., who signed ‘The Ghost’ in 2020, has his faith in Frank. But, in this regard, when Spence Jr. publicly announced his support for Martin, Davis ridiculed it.

While it’s debatable whether or not Davis is underestimating Martin, ‘Tank’ is certainly confident about his success against ‘The Ghost’. Therefore, Davis indirectly questioned Martin’s skills. But, on the other hand, Derrick James revealed Martin was working hard for the fight.

Ahead of the fight against Hector Luis Garcia in January last year, Gervonta Davis’ name was linked with Frank Martin’s. On that note, being Martin’s promoter since 2020, Errol Spence Jr. sided with Martin’s abilities. However, Davis, who earlier sparred with Martin, cautioned Spence Jr. by saying, “Errol better watch out. He’ll get his fighter [Frank Martin] hurt bad like I did before.” But, now that Davis and Martin are being placed on the same page again, Spence Jr. upheld ‘The Ghost’ one more time.

Taking to X, ‘The Truth’ declared, “I’m team me & whoever signed with me which is team Frank Martin…” However, ‘Tank’ Davis was not pleased with Spence’s tweet. Therefore, he replied with a photo that looked like Spence Jr. made ‘Tank’ cringe. And although Davis soon deleted his response, Michael Benson managed to get a screenshot of the same in time.

While Gervonta Davis and Spence Jr. had their moments on X, Derrick James told the media that Frank Martin was training with his heart out for the Davis fight.

For Team Martin, the fight against Davis is a “big deal”

Since Frank Martin has sparred with Gervonta Davis in the past, ‘The Ghost’ is aware of Davis’ abilities. For example, ahead of Davis vs. Leo Santa Cruz, when FightHype interviewed Martin, ‘The Ghost’ meditated on “good experience” with Davis. According to Frank, Davis is sharp, holds his own, and fights like a “beast“. However, Martin also claimed that Davis was not the most powerful boxer he came across in his life. Anyway, should the fight happen in June this year, it would be one of the biggest events in Martin’s pro career.

On that note, Martin’s trainer Derrick James said, “We have Frank Martin working out. Things have been said about that [the potential fight against Davis in June]. It’s a big deal, yeah.” With that said, what do you now make of Gervonta Davis’ reaction to Errol Spence Jr.’s tweet?

Boxing fans aren’t going to have long to wait to see Gervonta Davis in action, with a target date set for his return.

It has been nearly a year since ‘Tank’ knocked Ryan Garcia out to maintain his unbeaten record, and next up is Frank Martin.

A provisional date of June 15 has been set for Davis’ clash against Martin, according to Boxing Scene.

Tank is a huge hit with fans all over the world for his explosive style and unique character, so his return to the ring will no doubt prove popular.

His opponent, though, won’t be a pushover.

Martin boasts an 18-0-0 record and has 12 KOs to his name, and he will be desperate to halt Davis’ run and climb the rankings.

There were strong suggestions that Davis would actually fight Englishman Conor Benn next, with Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, sending an official contract offer to the American.

Hearn spoke at length about offering the deal to Davis to face Benn, who was cleared of doping last year.

He said: “He’ll be receiving an offer from us today for that fight. I think it’s a huge fight.

“Could happen in the UK, but we’re looking in America for that.

“You’ve got two fiery characters; Gervonta’s an outstanding fighter.

“He’s a super-featherweight really coming up to lightweight and boxing at super-lightweight, but he’s never boxed at welterweight.

“It’s a really tough fight for Conor Benn. Gervonta’s a pound-for-pound great, but I like the size advantage in that fight.

WBC lightweight world champion Shakur Stevenson took to Twitter to respond to the video, tweeting: “Never in my life have I taken a beating like that by any fighter, good lord.”

The three-weight world champion called out Stevenson last year, but a showdown has not yet materialised.

Stevenson, who made the switch to lightweight has insisted that the 29-year-old is avoiding a clash, but believes it will happen eventually.

Haney has been in a verbal battle with Garcia since their April 20 blockbuster was confirmed.

The latest jibe with the sparring footage will likely anger Haney further, after fiery confrontations at their two face-offs on their media tour.

After the footage leaked, Haney was quick to issue his own response, tweeting: “Never did they post a chopped up edited video.

The feud between ex-rivals Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia is getting hotter with each tweet and press conference. Amidst all the rising tension, ‘KingRy’, who recently mocked his opponent by wearing a T-shirt of Haney and P Diddy, who is in controversy lately, seems to not be stopping there. And now, continuing to take shots, he has leaked the infamous video of Haney being rocked by the boxing sensation Gervonta Davis. However, taking Garcia’s earlier statement into account, this move might bitter his relationship with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

Recently, Garcia admitted that Mayweather had shown him the infamous video. Now, by sharing the video with the world, Garcia is taking things a step further and potentially risking the wrath of the boxing legend himself.

Adding to that, Haney mocked Garcia, mentioning that the world has seen him getting defeated by Davis on the big stage. Davis’ coaches Calvin Ford and Kenny Ellis will now begin looking at Martin ahead of the fight.

Usually, this involves combing through hours of fight footage and coming up with a battle plan from there.

But Ellis and Ford have taken the unorthodox approach of studying Martin’s skull density as they size up the 29-year-old’s punch resistance.

“Phase one. Up early studying Frank Martin’s Skull. [He has] very thin Zygomatic bone and a thin muscle layer,” wrote Ellis on Instagram.
