Duke McKenzie is backing Oleksandr Usyk to beat Tyson Fury on points and has laid out exactly how he does it.

The British boxing legend anticipates Usyk will get a read on Fury early, nullify him on the inside and then outwork him over the distance.

A lot has been made about Fury’s superior size and weight in the lead-up to fight night

Several members of the boxing fraternity believe the Mancunian will be simply too big for Usyk when they duke it out in Saudi Arabia on May 18 for the undisputed heavyweight crown.

‘The Gypsy King’ is 6ft 9in and tends to weigh in at around 270lb for his fights.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Usyk, who previously boxed plied his trade in the cruiserweight division, stands at 6ft 3inch and will likely be 50lb lighter when he steps on the scales.

However, McKenzie, a former three-weight world champion and veteran of 46 professional fights (39-7), expects Usyk’s boxing IQ to shine through.

“Usyk wins, I hate to pour cold water on anyone’s parade but for me, Usyk wins because he’s a much more complete all-round fighter,” he told talkSPORT Fight Night on Saturday.

“I don’t think Fury has boxed anyone like him and Usyk will be so up for this fight and a good Oleksandr Usyk probably hold his own with just about any heavyweight that’s ever lived…

“His ring IQ, he’s very intellectual, very sensible, he punches perfectly, he times himself perfectly, he can nullify the bigger guys’ size.

“That’s what I think he will do against Fury, he can nullify his size and take that size difference away from him by getting on the inside, staying in the pocket, working him over and probably wearing him down – that’s how I see that fight.

Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury? 'After Usyk defeats Anthony Joshua' again, says his promoter | Boxing News | Sky Sports

“Over 12 rounds, Oleksandr Usyk will be too much for Tyson Fury in terms of work rate. Fury’s work rate isn’t great at the best of times, he fiddles, he messes around, he feints, he twitches.”

Expanding on what Fury brings to the table, McKenzie added: “Fury can be read, you know what he’s going to do.

Tom Allen was taken aback by Anthony Joshua’s powerful punch as the pair jokingly faced off against each other on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday, 6 April.

The two-time former unified world heavyweight champion practiced moves with the comedian such as a jab and an uppercut.

Allen’s moves sent Joshua playfully jumping into the air.

After Allen had a go at punching, the two swapped places with Joshua demonstrating his impressive strength.

As he demonstrated his uppercut, Joshua knocked Allen backward.

Asked whether trash talk can affect him, Joshua replied: “100 per cent. You take it personally and you meditate on it. You want to punish them for what they said about you.”

The so-called ‘Battle of Britain’ is one of the most highly-anticipated heavyweight fights in recent history.

But despite multiple attempts at getting the blockbuster clash over the line, it has yet to come to fruition.

Boxing fans have been clawing their eyes out waiting for the heavyweight titans to meet in the squared circle and luckily for them, it looks as though the long-awaited fight will happen sooner rather than later.

All that it needed was one stare from Mike Tyson. It was easy, for those who knew the game very well, to gauge that the fight was over for the opponent. For such was the kind of fear Tyson struck in the hearts and minds of some of the toughest boxers there were to be found. Hence, it would be challenging to imagine that there is indeed something or someone who could scare away the man who carried such a fearsome reputation. However, as the new episode of Hotboxin unfolded, it looked as though that appeared to be the case.

William Leonard Roberts II joined Mike Tyson and Fred Frenchy Madzimba in Hotboxin’s episode. But most fans know him by his nickname, Rick Ross. Over the years, he has become one of the most influential names in the southern rap scene. The Clarksdale, Mississippi-born songwriter and record executive is the recipient of nearly nine Grammy award nominations. However, for a prolific artist like him, it seems, he keeps his concerts during some really offbeat hours. It is not an easy time to venture out for a family man like Mike Tyson. To do so, he needs approval from the highest office at home, his wife, Lakiha ‘Kiki’ Spicer. But much before that, he needs to muster all the courage he has.

So some ten minutes or so after the show started, Mike Tyson checked with Rick Ross about how he was getting by in terms of the ‘side money’. The musician replied that he had a few ventures that he was looking after. An excited ‘Iron’ Mike then exclaimed that he wanted to see one of his concerts. So Ross, checking with one of his assistants, replied, “But look while you out here… we this weekend we doing where we at where we rocking now, homie, we doing a few things, we at Vendon we had a couple spots.

Tyson asked what Ross and his team would be doing at those places. “We performing we busting them,” said the rapper. Then the former heavyweight champion checked for the timings, and pat came in the reply, “You know I like to get in about 2 a.m.

In his latest interview, Tyson, incidentally, spoke about how nervous he felt in the lead-up to the fight. Speaking with Sean Hannity on Fox News Live, the former heavyweight champion shared his fears. But more significantly, he pointed out how being afraid helped him stay focused and prepare for the fight by confronting those apprehensions. He said, “Whatever I’m afraid to do, I do it, and that’s how it is…anything I’m afraid of, I confront it, and that’s my personality. and right now, I’m scared to death, but as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it’s reality, and in reality, I’m invincible.

Boxing purists have slammed Paul and Tyson’s mega-fight this summer but heavyweight rivals Joshua and Fury think it will be good for the sport

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury both believe Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul will only benefit boxing.

‘Iron Mike’ is back in the ring on July 20 when he faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul at the Dallas Cowboys stadium in one of this year’s biggest and most controversial fights. The bout will be sanctioned as an exhibition but Tyson has dismissed claims he and Paul will be wearing headgear and 18-ounce gloves.

Fury is no stranger to the influencer boxing world as his brother Tommy handed Paul his only defeat to date when they fought last year. The heavyweight champion echoed Joshua’s comments about Paul vs Tyson when recently speaking with The Stomping Ground. “It’d be fantastic for the guys both getting paid, both gonna put on a show. The heavyweight bout has been rescheduled to take place on May 18 in Saudi Arabia

All eyes will turn to Saudi Arabia next month when heavyweights Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk meet for a hugely anticipated bout which could feature a new scoring system in a bid to avoid any controversy.

The fighters had been due to clash in February originally, but the encounter had to be postponed until May 18 after Fury suffered a “freak cut” above his eye in a sparring session as he prepared for the fight.

WBC champion Fury will put his belt on the line against Usyk’s WBA, WBO and IBF titles to create a four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion and it bodes to be quite the fight.

Gypsy King Fury, 35, is undefeated so far in his professional boxing career, having picked up 34 wins in 35 bouts, 24 of which have been by knockout.

He only has one draw besides that, which came in December 2018 in the first of his three fights against Deontay Wilder.

Usyk, 37, is also undefeated so far in his career, with 21 victories in as many fights, 14 of these wins coming by knockout.

Clearly, unless there is a draw in the rescheduled encounter, something will have to give and it will be interesting to see how the fight in the Middle East unfolds.

With so many eyes going to be on this fight, there will naturally be a heavy focus on the judges, whose scores could end up being crucial when it comes to pinpointing a winner, should the bout go the full 12 rounds without a knockout.

Usually, there are three judges who keep scores in boxing clashes, but this could be expanded to six in a bid to avoid any controversy.

World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman has spoken of the intention, after a host of split and majority decision fights of late.

As per Boxing Scene, Sulaiman said: “The more highly skilled judges we have working together, the better.

“If you have a fight when two judges don’t have a good night, that fight is decided, 2-1, by bad cards. If that happens with six judges, the correct fighter wins, 4-2.

“We’ve had too many split decisions and majority decision fights over the last few months. This is not OK.

“It’s easy to say judges need to be better when things go wrong, but why not bring in the top six judges in the world for a major championship fight like this – judges who have been most consistent – and let them decide these important fights?

“If not, we can have someone scoring who may have a bad night, or even be experiencing personal problems.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ suffered two consecutive defeats to Fury in 2020 and 2021, despite putting up a valiant effort in both fights.

After bouncing back with a KO win over Robert Helenius, Wilder then suffered a surprise defeat to Joseph Parker in December, where a win would likely have set up a showpiece fight with Anthony Joshua.

Anthony Joshua

Talking of Joshua, Tyson summarised: “He has never lost hope, he is still learning. That’s why he’s dangerous. Because he’s still f***ing learning.

“Joshua needs to pick up the pace, he’s got so much potential. He has got to turn those jabs into something. Joshua is no walk over. He’s going to have a beautiful life after boxing, he’s beautiful.”

"MIKE TYSON WOULD KNOCK ANTHONY JOSHUA OUT IN ONE ROUND"!!!

Joshua is a two-time WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion, having lost the belts to Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019 before claiming them back the following December.

He slipped to a shock loss against Usyk in September and lost a rematch against him the following summer.

Joshua has since won his last three fights, including a fifth round stoppage of Otto Wallin in December last year.

Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson focused on Usyk’s performance in his first fight against Joshua in his analysis, stating: “Usyk is very hard to hit, he has that elite amateur level movement. It was too much for Joshua.”

Tiger Woods’ ankle is not looking good lately with The Masters in sight

Right now, the Masters is starting next week and Tiger’s participation is suddenly in question due to a new injury. the legendary golfer has been suffering from a plantar fascitis injury that has kept him away from the game for a while. In 2023, Woods only completed a total of 43 holes during last-years tournament. The Augusta National is one of the most complicated golf courses in the world with a grueling walk from all accounts. Folks with low mobility or physical issues that affects their walking are the ones who struggle the most in Augusta. Currently, reports confirmed that Tiger Woods has absolutely no mobility in one of his ankles. With that problem in mind, there is a good chance Tiger will have to wait for next week to see if the pain is no longer there. No announcement has come from the golf legend about this yet. The Masters has a whopping 72 holes, which mans he will have to prepare himself for next week. Woods has Augusta as the next tournament on his schedule but we still have to hear from him directly. Woods’ friend Notah Begay III said this in a conference call: “He’s trying to formulate a strategy and approach that he can work within given the constraints that he’s presented with. And he’s got some constraints. He’s got zero mobility in that left ankle and really has low-back challenges now, which he knew he was going to have. For the past couple months, he’s been trying to find a way to recover. He can play the golf. We always knew the question was going to be: ‘Can he walk the 72 (holes)?’ That’s still up in the air. But can he recover, from one round to the next? That’s the biggest question that I really don’t know and he’s not going to know either until he gets out there and figures out whether the way he’s prepared for this year’s Masters is going to work for him.”
