Francis Ngannou has weighed in on the long-contested debate over who would win if Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury ever faced off inside the ring.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou has fought both British heavyweights in the last six months, but fallen to defeats on both occasions, most recently to Joshua last Friday.

The Cameroonian fighter suffered a stunning second-round knockout loss against the former two-time heavyweight champion in Saudi Arabia, falling afoul of a stunning right from the Brit.

After hitting the deck twice already in the fight it proved too much for Ngannou to come back from, and he was seemingly unconscious by the time he hit the canvas for the third time on the night.

Against Fury, the MMA star made it the distance, with many talking up his credentials as a boxer after the surprising result, and as a veteran of both fights he is perhaps well placed to give his verdict on a potential winner.

After losing to AJ on Friday, Ngannou was asked who he backed to come out on top if the two ever crossed paths, he told iFL TV: ‘I don’t know, I would give it to AJ for right now.’

When asked about whether he was caught out by Joshua’s power, he added: ‘I think he got the right timing. It was about the timing, mostly.

Joshua has looked back to his best in his most recent fights, beating Otto Wallin in December after his corner threw in the towel, having stopped Robert Helenius in August 2023 for a first knockout win in almost three years.

However, following his win over Ngannou on Friday, Fury appeared to throw some shade at Joshua.

‘Me and Oleksandr Usyk have got an undisputed heavyweight world title fight coming up, and he’s just had a show fight – which is fantastic for the show, but for the actual real boxing it’s me and Usyk who fight for the No 1 position and undisputed,’ he told talkSPORT’s Michael Benson.

Joshua hit out at the Gypsy King in the wake of his second-round win, seemingly brushing off his compatriot’s comments and dubbing him a trash talker.

Speaking to iFL TV, Joshua was asked about Fury’s reaction to his knockout and simply replied: ‘F*** Tyson Fury.’

He added: ‘You know what it is? I don’t like trash talking people but I heard him say something like “I’m here to do commentary about these two sausages”.

Gervonta Davis’ punching power was proved once again when he took on the punch machine challenge.

The hard-hitting 5ft 5ins unbeaten American boxing star has a stunning record of 29-0 (27 KOs) – which gives him a 93 per cent knockout ratio.

His next fight looks set to be against Frank Martin on June 15, and fans will be expecting another KO.

And it’s easy to see why when you look back to Tank’s history of proving his power.

Prior to Deontay Wilder vs Dominic Breazeale in 2019, both heavyweights made separate appearances on the Inside PBC Boxing show to give interviews and test their strength on the punch machine.

Coincidentally, a young Davis was on the same programme as Breazeale and so also had a go at the challenge.

Wilder sent a rhyming video message to the pair before the show began and challenged them both to beat his high score of 927, that he previously set with his weaker left hand.

It seems Floyd Mayweather Jr. is taking it easy on a lavish European vacation. Some time ago, the undefeated former champion shared snapshots and clips of him enjoying a card session with a bunch of friends aboard a train in France. The boxing legend, now active in the exhibition boxing circuit post-retirement, last dueled John Gotti III in a controversial event.

The world’s richest boxer enjoys his downtime at exotic locales. Usually, he prefers to jet set on one of his priced Gulfstreams to reach the destination. However, as his post conveyed, for a change, he decided to give some time off to his pilot crew. Thus, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the gang headed to the ‘City of Love’ on one of the best-operated train systems in the world. From the looks of it, they appeared to have taken the world-famous Train à Grande Vitesse, or TGV.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Rumble in the Rails

In the post, Floyd Mayweather Jr. wrote, “I gave my pilots a couple of days off, and 15 of us hopped on a train to Paris to move around a little bit!” The first clip showed him sitting by the window seat with cards spread out in hand. A few bundles of bills decked the table. A friend, seated diagonally across the table, distributed the pieces. As the game progressed, they randomly picked the cards from the draw pile and arranged them alongside the one in hand.

From the warm hot springs of Iceland to the ice-laden roads in Aspen, Colorado, the video footage showed Floyd Mayweather Jr. having a gala time with family and friends.

Just as she steps back into the limelight, free from the shadows of her suspension, Shields’ challenge beckons, offering a high-stakes showdown that could redefine both their careers.

Alycia Baumgardner, emerging fresh from her battle to clear her name from doping allegations, now faces a different kind of fight. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, or intense.

Meanwhile, Shields’ competitive flame burned just as fiercely towards MMA powerhouse Cris Cyborg. Merely minutes later, her second tweet escalated the challenge: “This H03 pressed too! The high-stakes tension between Claressa Shields and Cris Cyborg teeters on the edge of becoming a monumental showdown. This recount of their sparring match amplifies the anticipation, with Shields provocatively calling out, “@criscyborg when you want me to spank your a** again!?” Their previous encounters in the ring, laden with competitive fervor, set the stage for what could be a historic clash, transcending the boundaries of their respective sports.

The current trend in boxing has champions prioritizing an undefeated record above all else. This strategy could be seen as a byproduct of the influence of Floyd Mayweather on boxing. Mayweather’s dominance in the ring, coupled with his shrewd business decisions, has shown fighters like Manny PacquiaoMiguel CottoCanelo Alvarez, and Danny Garcia a different path to success.

Mayweather’s impact goes beyond his own career. He’s influenced the fight game by demonstrating the value of strategic opponent selection and career management. Still, he managed to go undefeated against skilled boxers like Oscar De La HoyaZab JudahShane Mosley and even Andre Berto. Now many fighters, even in the current era, strive to remain undefeated and want to land a lucrative fight as soon as possible in their career. However, according to American commentator, Floyd Mayweather himself doesn’t support the ‘Mayweather Effect’.

Floyd Mayweather doesn’t want fighters to follow him

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. | Biography & Facts | Britannica

Not that long ago, Floyd Mayweather asked Terence Crawford to give Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis a chance inside the ring. However, a renowned commentator who goes by the name of Showbizz the Adult explained how Mayweather once talked about why he chose the “currency over legacy“. However, as per the commentator, at that time, Mayweather didn’t think that the other boxers would start following him, but when he saw what was happening, he wanted to reinforce the idea of old-school boxing where the fighters took on any formidable challenger regardless of the “currency” the fight would bring.

Showbizz stated, “Floyd Mayweather never meant for the whole boxing world to follow him like that. Floyd Mayweather was just giving an explanation on why he’s moving the way he’s moving. And it helped make him ‘TBE’. The thing about Floyd, he also had integrity. Look at his resume. Amazing. Look at his boxing ability. Amazing. He didn’t expect all these people to be followers and not do exactly what he did.” But now Mayweather had seen the effects of the ‘Floyd Mayweather Effect’ and he didn’t intend it to be that way.
Furthermore, he continued, “You all trying to be like me and you all ain’t like me. Now Floyd is talking that real s**t. We gotta get back to old school. Time to right the wrongs baby.” For that reason, he wants Terence Crawford to give Jaron Ennis a chance since he’s a boxer who deserves a spotlight.
Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul Fight Results
Floyd Mayweather is throwing his weight behind Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis as Terence Crawford’s next opponent. Crawford, struggling to secure a high-profile fight, was initially expected to rematch Errol Spence Jr. However, those plans fell through, leaving Crawford without a dance partner. Mayweather suggests that Crawford take on the rising star Ennis.
This matchup would be a fresh alternative for Crawford and could generate significant anticipation. Mayweather stated, “Somebody’s gotta give ‘Boots’ the opportunity. It’s been difficult for Terence Crawford to get the Spence rematch done, it’s been difficult to get the Canelo fight done, so his other option is to fight ‘Boots’ Ennis.” Currently, he’s the IBF welterweight titlist, and their bout would again allow Crawford to contest for the undisputed title.

“In fact, I didn’t feel the punch,’’ Ngannou said at the post-fight press conference. “I think that’s what the knockout is about. I don’t feel any pain. That’s how I know I was knocked out.’’

Eubank has posted a mock fight poster online, and speculation has subsequently gathered apace that the fight could take place this summer.

Anthony Joshua has laid out his possible next steps after knocking out Francis Ngannou inside two rounds.

The former two-time unified heavyweight champion has earned a shot at the winner of Oleksandr Uysk vs Tyson Fury by beating Ngannou.

However, the heavyweight titans have agreed to a rematch after their inaugural encounter on May 18 meaning AJ may have to wait until next year for his opportunity.

The Watford powerhouse doesn’t intend to sit around in the interlude and insists he will return to the ring in either June or July.

Joshua is ranked No.3 with the major sanctioning body while Hrgovic is placed two spots ahead of him at No.1.

But as of right now, it looks as though they will order Hrgovic vs Joshua for their version of the world title after May 18

A fight with either Zhilei Zhang or Joseph Parker is unlikely to be made next as Zhang is due a rematch after losing to the Kiwi on Friday night.

Meanwhile, the public appears to have lost interest in Joshua vs Deontay Wilder following the American’s dismal display against Parker on the ‘Day of Reckoning’ bill in December.
