Teenage heavyweight Moses Itauma could be boxing’s next superstar – but the Brit has already taken a shot at the current kings.

The 19-year-old recently moved to 8-0 with another brutal knockout, seeing off Dan Garber in the first round last Friday night.

WBC champion Tyson Fury has called Itauma the ‘future of the division’, while pundits have likened him to heavyweight legend Mike Tyson due to his explosive power.

Fury knows all about Itauma’s talent after a recent sparring session between the two big-hitters.

A 16-year-old Itauma also sparred with two-time world champion Anthony Joshua back in 2021.

Mike Tyson's opinion if Tyson Fury fought Anthony Joshua is brutally honest

When talkSPORT asked the young prodigy whether Fury hits hardest, Itauma responded: “No, but he’s so unique. Joshua hit me very hard.

“I sparred him [Joshua] when I was 16. I only did a couple of rounds, but that was enough.”

Opinions have shifted on Fury and Joshua following their respective victories over MMA-champion-turned-boxer Francis Ngannou.

Fury was knocked down and got an unconvincing majority decision, while Joshua delivered a brutal knockout in the second round.

The heavyweight division will crown its first unified king in more than two decades when Fury meets IBF, WBA and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk on May 18.

Itauma hopes to reach those heights one day, but for now, he still believes Fury is the best around.

“Joshua had something to learn off [before fighting Ngannou], Fury never did. Fury was the first person to do that crossover.

“It was great entertainment. Whether he took it seriously is another thing.”

Canelo Alvarez was taken aback by the recent praise he received from his old rival Floyd Mayweather.

The pair haven’t had many nice things to say about each other over the years, but ‘TBE’ was one of the few figures in boxing that defended Canelo for choosing Jaime Munguia instead of David Benavidez as his next opponent.

While many members of the boxing fraternity slammed Canelo for ‘ducking’ Benavidez, Mayweather recently came out and stated that the Mexican superstar has ‘nothing left to prove’.

In a later interview, he even backed Canelo to become a future Hall of Famer as he heaped praise onto his former foe.

Mike Tyson will step back in the ring this summer – 19 years after his last pro fight – to face YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul.

In 2005, ‘Iron Mike’, one of the most feared heavyweights in history, bid a sad farewell to the sport as he quit on his stool against the unheralded Kevin McBride in Washington D.C.

And even as his career was coming to an end, SHOWTIME commentator Steve Albert’s introduction to their pay-per-view offering on June 11, 2005, showed Tyson still had his aura that had seen him storm through the heavyweight division in the 1980s and earn the nickname the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’.

“Despite the prevailing opinion that Mike Tyson is shot, unfocused and undisciplined, this has elements of a short, painful night for Kevin McBride,” said Albert.

He was 38 years old, had been knocked out by Britain’s Danny Williams in his last fight and spent 11 months out of the ring since, but the Tyson phenomenon lived on regardless.

A crowd of 20,000 packed out the MCI Arena to witness the former undisputed heavyweight world champion in action, fully believing their hero would roll back the clock to produce another scintillating KO.

Irish journeyman McBride was the opponent selected for the occasion – his record not telling the full story.

The 32-year-old had accumulated his 32 wins by facing a host of lower-tier fighters and then suffered defeats whenever he stepped up in class.

McBride was even beaten by Michael Murray, a man who ended his career losing 17 of his last 18 fights, with the only bout he won being the one against McBride.

While the Irishman is said to have earned $150,000 for the contest, Tyson was reportedly paid $5million – most of which went to his ex-wife and creditors.

‘The Truth’ has started to hit the gym after going through a cataract injury earlier this year and deciding not to trigger a rematch clause with ‘Bud’. However, the fans have raised concerns about him being in better shape, both physically and mentally. But they can lay their worries to rest, as Frank Martin issued an update on his famed stablemate.

Frank Martin gets controversial decision victory in Las Vegas

Martin, who is rumored to face Gervonta Davis next in June, appeared in an interview with Cigar Talk. The host curiously inquired about Spence Jr., who has been away from action since last July. The interviewer asked, “Tell me about EJ bro. We haven’t really seen or heard from him since the ‘Bud’ fight publicly, you know. What I mean interviews and all that sh*t… When you speak to him, do you feel like ni**a’s in a safe space? Do you feel like he still got that fighting spirit? Is EJ still EJ?”

Martin, 29, responded that Spence Jr. was living his life and chilling. The latter had barely been in the country. He said, “Yeah, EJ still EJ, you know. EJ just living his life, you know. He [is] chilling. He been boxing, he been boxing for a long time, you know. EJ chilling. EJ barely in the country. Man, EJ living.”
