Frank Warren has told talkSPORT that a major boxing event is coming to Wembley Stadium this year.

Earlier this week, Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi’s General Entertainment Authority responsible for staging boxing in Riyadh, first disclosed the possibility of a huge show at the national stadium.

The idea would be to use the event as an advertisement for more boxing to follow in Saudi Arabia as part of Riyadh Season.

“I’m talking, thinking and studying with Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn to do something huge in Wembley in September as a commercial for Riyadh Season,” Alalshikh said.

On Thursday, Warren joined talkSPORT Breakfast and added additional context.

“As you know there have been some fabulous events in Saudi for the Riyadh Season,” he began.

“And they’re events that to be quite honest we could never put on here.

“They’re just too expensive, it would not work, the books wouldn’t balance.

“But obviously for Riyadh Season it’s part of the multi-cultural events that take place there – sporting events, music events, etc.

“And what we’re putting on at Wembley is basically gonna be an advert for the start of the Riyadh Season next October.

Tyson vs. Paul is not on PPV as the heavyweight bout will be aired on Netflix, who have over 200 million subscribers.

But had the boxing legend’s clash against ‘The Problem Child’ been on PPV, then it would’ve generated huge buys considering the profile of both fighters.

‘Iron’ Mike is no stranger to pulling in massive PPV numbers, having been involved in some big fights during his iconic professional career.

He had two monster fights against Evander Holyfield, which garnered a combined 3,590,000 PPV buys.

However, when it comes to the PPV king, then look no further than Floyd Mayweather, who dominates the top ten.

After Floyd Mayweather dominated Manny Pacquiao in 2015, all three judges scored the bout in Mayweather’s favor to declare him a winner by UD. While Burt A. Clements and Glenn Feldman scored the fight 116-112, Dave Moretti scored 118-110. However, when Max Kellerman interviewed Manny Pacquiao immediately after the match, ‘PacMan’ said he thought he had won the fight. Now, almost echoing Pacquiao, an interviewer lately told Mayweather that some people thought the Pacquaio fight was “close“.

In his response, Mayweather strongly defended his laudable victory against Manny. In doing so, he bragged about being a Hall-of-Fame inductee. By the by, ‘TBE’ announced he could still demand $100 million for a fight at 47. Here is what happened.

As per the data uploaded by BoxRec, there were eight rounds when all three judges gave Floyd Mayweather a 10-9 score against Manny Pacquiao. However, all three judges felt Mayweather also lost the fourth and sixth rounds against ‘PacMan’. And ‘TBE’ largely agrees with the judges. As per ‘Money,’ he lost only two rounds against the then WBO Welterweight champion at MGM Grand, Las Vegas. Therefore, when ZOOM correspondent Rudrani Chattoraj said there were people who “nitpicked” Mayweather’s performance against Manny, the 50-0 boxer had to correct her.

Mike Tyson named the former WWE star he believes is the greatest professional wrestler of all time during a debate with Francis Ngannou.

Boxing legend Tyson trained Ngannou for his fight against Tyson Fury, which took place in Saudi Arabia last year.

Prior to the bout, which Fury won via split decision, both Tyson and Ngannou conducted an interview with Complex, in which they named their GOATs in a range of different topics.

In MMA, both Tyson and Ngannou named current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones as being the GOAT.

Ngannou, meanwhile, named Tyson as his GOAT of boxing. ‘Iron Mike’ didn’t choose himself, instead going for Muhammad Ali.

The debate then switched to the professional wrestling GOAT, with Ngannou choosing Hulk Hogan, who was WWE Champion for 1,474 days between 1984 and 1988 – the fourth-longest reign in the title’s history.

Tyson, meanwhile, could have gone for ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin or Shawn Michaels, whom he shared the ring with at WrestleMania 14 as a special guest enforcer for their main event match.

But he instead opted for Ric Flair, who has had a career spanning over 50 years and has won at least 21 world championships.

Flair had his last match with WWE in 2008, losing to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24.

But he has since wrestled for other companies, and had a second spell with WWE before being released in 2021.

‘The Nature Boy’ is now signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), aligning himself with Sting as the latter prepared for his retirement match that took place earlier this month.

Flair, however, didn’t pick himself when naming his Mount Rushmore of wrestling – picking his final WWE opponent instead.

He said: “I’m not on my Mount Rushmore. I think it’s better to have somebody else put you there.

“My Mount Rushmore in terms of importance to the business is Stone Cold, Hulk, obviously, Undertaker, and I think Shawn Michaels.

“[The Rock] would be [on the list], except he didn’t stay long enough. I think part of the Mount Rushmore is longevity. It’s hard to be really good, and The Rock was great. But he took off.

Eddie Hearn has slammed Francis Ngannou for appearing to suggest that his demolishing defeat by Anthony Joshua was down to his early arrival at the arena.

Ngannou, in a recent interview on the MMA Hour, said that he arrived at the Kingdom Arena, in Riyadh, two hours earlier than Joshua, appearing to suggest that this was a ‘trick’ to tire him out.

Despite all the success, Terence Crawford seems discontent with the people around him. In a recent pinch, the undefeated former undisputed champion shared a rather mysterious message on his social media account, hinting at being betrayed by his own people. Fast forward to today, the 36-year-old boxer has managed to become the mandatory challenger to the winner of Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora, scheduled for March 30. Those rules would be in effect if the fight is classified as an exhibition rather than a sanctioned pro fight, said Tela Mange, Communications Manager for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR).

The decision, which is pending, will be made by TDLR interim Executive Director, Brian E. Francis, with the input and advice of the TDLR Combative Sports staff, according to Mange. She also told USA TODAY Sports that an exhibition fight in Texas calls for the heavier boxing gloves, shorter rounds and no judges.

British fighter offered an impressive display of clinical efficiency in Riyadh but these events should not happen

In the early hours of Saturday morning in Riyadh it was totally expected and yet still strangely alarming. Joshua had so much time he could plant his feet, take aim and unleash a ferocious overhand right that stuck Ngannou so forcefully on his temple that he began slipping into unconsciousness as he slumped to the canvas. Within seconds, he was stretched flat on his back. The referee, waving his left arm frantically to signal the fight was over in the second round, ran to his rescue.

Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou: Briton delivers devastating blow as he brutally knocks out UFC star in second round | CNN

Boxing thrives on such graphic violence, which means that, even for those of us who somehow still love the courage, resolve and skill of its fighters, it is ultimately a bleak and often distressing business. Joshua, who has been stopped shockingly by Andy Ruiz Jr and dismantled twice by Oleksandr Usyk, understands these harsh truths. He did not roar or celebrate Ngannou’s demise by climbing the ropes. Instead, Joshua looked away from his stricken opponent and walked quietly across to his new trainer, Ben Davison, who tapped his glove in acknowledgment of a brutal job done well.

They were right not to indulge in jubilation. Joshua did his work with clinical efficiency while showing some of the spite that all great heavyweights carry inside. Mike Tyson used to produce these stoical reactions better than any other fighter. After he had obliterated yet another hapless opponent, Tyson would trudge around the ring with a contemptuous lack of surprise. A sombre expression reflected his certainty the outcome had always been obvious. It was chilling, intimidating and built the myth of Iron Mike.

I Will Knock You Out -Joshua Warns Ngannou - Complete Sports

But Tyson was lost in a dark maze. He unravelled outside the ring and between the ropes. Joshua, a student of heavyweight boxing, has immersed himself in these compelling yet quietly tragic stories – and lived through the pain of his own defeats.

Joshua also knew, as long as he prepared hard and fought with calm intent, he would blow Ngannou away. He has been boxing professionally for 10 years and 10 months, while it is just over four months since Ngannou’s pro debut.

Boxing logic had been skewed on that strange night last October when, in his first fight as a boxer, Ngannou stunned Tyson Fury by dropping him in the third round. Fury got up and shaded a split-decision victory. Ngannou performed admirably and Fury had been lethargic and bereft of his usual cascade of trickery.

Number one' Joshua defeats Ngannou with brutal second-round KO

It turned out to be a mirage as Joshua crushed Ngannou in the desert of Saudi Arabia. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, resorted to the exaggeration that Joshua shunned. “You’re looking at the baddest man on the planet,” Hearn said, stealing one of Tyson’s old nicknames as he pointed to Joshua. “He’s the best heavyweight in the world and I can’t wait for him to beat Tyson Fury.”

Hearn’s statement was almost as absurd as the very idea of these crossover fights. Fury, of all people, spoke with composed good sense as he responded to Hearn’s bombast: “I’m sure Oleksandr Usyk will have something to say about that, considering that he beat [Joshua] twice. It’s me and Usyk who fight for the No 1 and No 2 positions and the undisputed championship of the world [in May]. I had a shit performance against Ngannou. I’ve never said anything different. Joshua knocked him out and that’s what a boxer should’ve done.”

Usyk holds the IBF, WBA and WBO world heavyweight titles, while Fury retains his WBC belt. It has been a week in which Joshua restored some order and clarity to boxing – by underlining the dangerous folly of such crossover bouts. They should not be allowed because lasting damage may yet happen.

Of course, as this is boxing, a grim announcement was made the day before Joshua faced Ngannou. On 20 July, Jake Paul, the YouTube influencer turned boxer, will fight Tyson in “a blockbuster exhibition” at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It is predicted that the stunt of a bout, to be streamed live on Netflix, will draw a crowd of 80,000 and generate more than $100m. Tyson will have just turned 58.
