His only defeat came in his penultimate fight against Gervonta Davis, where he was technically knocked out in the seventh round in April 2023. After that loss, the Mexican-American returned to the ring in December and defeated Oscar Duarte by knockout.

On the other hand, Haney arrives after being crowned as the WBC super lightweight champion in his debut in the category, defeating Regis Prograis by unanimous decision in December 2023.
