Lennox Lewis has issued a word of concern for Jake Paul before the 27-year-old steps into the ring to fight Mike Tyson on July 20, despite Tyson fighting just once in 20 years.

Lewis, who was the last undisputed heavyweight champion in boxing, is regarded as one of the finest fighters ever and the best British fighter of all-time. That means he knows what he’s talking about and he called for Paul to be very weary of Tyson’s power.

Tyson’s preparing for his first professional fight since 2005 and there has been a wealth of concern about his long-term health if he sustains a series of head blows at the age of 58, but Lewis is looking at it differently as he worries for the inexperienced Paul.

“I’m concerned for Jake Paul,” Lewis told The Guardian. “Tyson still knows how to punch, as you can see when he’s hitting a bag.

Lennox Lewis Breaks Down Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul

“If Jake Paul gets hit by one of those punches, he’s going to feel it. I know Jake Paul doesn’t want to get hit. Tyson comes forward and he knows how to cut off the ring. It could be a matter of time, as how good is Jake Paul’s defence?

“I saw Mike a couple of weeks ago and he looked good. He was walking around without a shirt and showing off his body so he’s getting ready.”

The fight will take place on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and will be streamed by Netflix for the first time ever, but the most interesting details are in the rules for the officially sanctioned professional fight.

The pair will compete in eight, two-minute rounds and will use 140z gloves. This is different to the typical regulation of 12, three-minute round fights with 10oz gloves. The glove change means that the gloves will be softer and cushioned whilst heavier, meaning the fighters will also lose speed in throwing.

How did Lennox Lewis stop Mike Tyson? Can Jake Paul get tips?

Lewis has stepped into the ring to face Tyson once, and he emerged unscathed and victorious, so how did it happen? Can Jake Paul get any tips from watching The Lion’s fight in 2002, titled Lewis-Tyson: Is on?

On the night in Memphis, Tennessee, Lewis dominated the bout, showcasing his superior boxing skills and strategy. He utilized his height and reach advantage effectively, keeping Tyson at bay with his jab and landing powerful combinations.

World champion boxer Savannah Marshall has called out superstar Claressa Shields for a rematch in Mixed Martial Arts ahead of her PFL debut next month.

Whilst MMA fighters trying their hand at boxing is nothing new, it’s certainly a rarity to see not one, but two world champion boxers making the transition themselves across the cage-ring aisle.

Yet with undisputed super-middleweight boxing champion Savannah Marshall set to make her MMA debut in just a few weeks, we could be on an unlikely path to getting one of the biggest rematches in all of women’s combat sports.

The fan-favorite fighter is 13-1 as a professional boxer, with that one singular blemish on her record thanks dealt to her by one of the GWOATs of the sport in Claressa Shields, who herself signed for the PFL back in 2020.

Speaking via TalkSport, Marshall was asked whether or not a rematch with Shields, this time in the MMA cage instead of the boxing ring, could be part of her future strategy as she looks to become a two-sport world champion.

“Yeah, that’s the plan – everyone’s asking about me going in the league and pushing on from there, winning belts but hopefully [I’ll] fight Claressa in the cage. That’s my goal, I want that rematch.”

Given both the competitive nature of their rivalry and the desire to earn back her only ever defeat as a professional fighter, should Marshall continue to rack up wins and titles, a rematch isn’t only a possibility, it’s inevitable.

“The thing that pushed me into this PFL deal was the fact that the boxing rematch just wasn’t happening, and I was a bit devastated that it didn’t happen straight after, it never materialized and that’s just boxing politics,” Marshall revealed in a recent interview with ESPN MMA.

Novak Djokovic says he felt hampered by the after-effects of being hit on the head by a bottle as he fell to a shock Italian Open defeat by Alejandro Tabilo.

The world number one was accidentally struck by the water bottle as he signed autographs following his second-round win over Corentin Moutet on Friday.

“That has really impacted me a lot. After that I got medical care, [and went] through half-an-hour [to] an hour of nausea, dizziness and blood,” said Djokovic.

If you thought Simone Biles had no one to one up her, think again. Turns out, the newest kid on the block is Italian teenage phenom Manila Esposito who has etched her name in the annals of history. Esposito’s performance is invoking comparisons to the legendary Simone Biles, Svetlana Khorkina, and Lilia Podkopayeva.

In the 2024 European Championships, Esposito didn’t just participate but reached the zenith with an impeccable record. Shattering all expectations, Esposito clinched not one, not two, but three gold in a single European Championships. The most astonishing fact is that this feat has been achieved by only the most iconic gymnasts of yesteryears. Going into Paris, will she be giving Simone Biles a run for her money?

What Should Fans Expect From the Next Phase of Simone Biles's Career?

Manila Esposito has secured four gold medals in the 2024 European Championships. Among these four, three are for individual events. Russian gymnast phenom Svetlana Khorkina and Ukrainian star Lilia Podkopayeva are the only figures from all across the globe who have managed to secure this feat. Only Khorkina and Podkopayeva won three gold in individual events in a single European Championships in the last 30 years. While 17-year-old Esposito’s name has already been in the pages with these iconic names, she is also being compared to Simone Biles when it comes to achieving heights at such a tender age. Also, Khorkina and Podkopayeva are among the most successful gymnasts in the All-Around competition between Simone Biles and the 1970s.

Another Gymnastics Skill Once Called Impossible Will Now Be Called Biles

The European Championships began in the 1950s. And since then there have been only twenty occasions when a gymnast has mastered a three-gold sweep to date. Besides, all the gymnasts who have previously managed to clinch a triple-gold are legendary figures in Gymnastics and Hall of Famers. Also, eighteen times the gymnasts who have achieved the hat-trick in European Championships were already Olympic medalists.

Comparing all these stats, it’s pretty clear that Manila Esposito is already a shining name in the history of the European Championships. But there are also several grounds which make the Italian 17-year-old eligible to be compared to American gymnastics queen Simone Biles.

Simone Biles who is considered the queen of gymnastics participated in the Rio Olympics in 2016 when she was just 19. 19-year-old Biles clinched gold in three individual events, including the all-around, vault, and floor exercise in the 2016 Rio Olympics. While Biles was just 17 she participated in the 2014 World Gymnastics Championships and bagged four gold. Two for individual events including floor and balance beam and another one for all-around individuals besides team all-around. Esposito too at just 17 grabbed four gold in the 35th Rimini European Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Previously in Antalya, she won two silver in 2023.

Like a shooting star streaking across the night sky, Paris may very well be her defining year.
