It was the first live boxing event for Bruce Carrington, and he wanted to make an impact! If his beautiful fourth-round knockout of Bernard Angelo Torres wasn’t enough, he ensured the post-fight interview stood out. In what nobody saw coming, the Brooklyn native paid homage to the former ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ Mike Tyson.

Last Friday night, ‘Shu Shu’ Carrington took home his 11th professional victory while opening for ESPN’s three-bout broadcast as part of the O’Shaquie Foster-Abraham Nova undercard at Madison Square Garden Theater, New York. However, by the time the fight had ended, Carrington had settled on bringing back a blast from the past involving his fellow Brooklyn native Tyson.

Speaking to an ESPN representative during the post-fight interview, Carrington copied an iconic line from ‘Iron’ Mike, something Mike had said during a post-fight interview while calling out Lennox Lewis in the 90s. Top Rank shared the clip of the interview on their X (formerly Twitter) account on February 17 with a caption reading, “ShuShu just paid homage to Brownsville’s most famous alumnus.”

Carrington stated, “I’m the best ever. There is nobody like me. I am Sunny Liston…Nobody comes nearly close…There is nobody that can match me. My style is impetuous. My defense is impregnable…” Carrington may have missed one or two lines from the monolog – Mike delivered back in the day. But that could be the result of his excitement to appear on national television, something he had prepared for.

Carrington performs best under pressure

With the phenomenal performance and repeating Mike Tyson’s speech, it seemed like Bruce Carrington came prepared for the entire night. And that is exactly what he did! Because the fight was going to be his first appearance on TV, he told Boxing Scene, “This is a big deal for me because it’s my first time fighting on national television.”

“I’m [going to] always bring a crowd-pleasing performance to every single one of my fights. And I feel like with this opportunity, it adds a little pressure. But I love the pressure. I think I fight the best when I have pressure on me,” said Carrington. And it’s safe to say that his performance and that unexpected speech at the end made sure of his smashing entry to the world stage.

Bruce Carrington is the newest addition to the list of promising prospects in the modern era of boxing. And fans are eager to see what this young man of 26 has to show, especially after the Mike Tyson speech. Do you think Carrington can make it big like Tyson?

Is Canelo Alvarez afraid of fighting another great fighter Terence Crawford? Well, after his dominating victory over Errol Spence Jr. in July last year, ‘Bud’ Crawford expressed he wanted to become a three-time undisputed champion in the sport. In this, regard, he suggested facing Canelo Alvarez at 158 lbs, a catchweight.

However, Canelo Alvarez remained averse to the idea of facing ‘Bud’, the champion at Welterweight. In his latest interview, while the boxing world waited for Canelo’s next opponent, the Mexican claimed he would be subjected to criticism if he faced Crawford. But, Keyshawn Davis strongly disagreed. Here is what he told FightHype.

In his latest interview with Box Azteca, Canelo Alvarez said that if he potentially defeated Terence Crawford, people would criticize the Mexican boxer for facing a smaller fighter in the ring. “I have everything to lose and nothing to gain because if I win, they’ll say, ‘Oh, he was too small, and everything!” said Alvarez. As a result, the 33-year-old feels a match against ‘Bud’ Crawford is simply not worth it. However, Keyshawn Davis feels otherwise.

Terence Crawford Digs At Jermell Charlo As He Pushes For Canelo Clash

According to Keyshawn Davis, despite everyone expecting a sure win from Canelo, the Mexican fought several smaller fighters in the past. Therefore, Davis struggles to believe that Canelo would turn down ‘Bud’ simply because everyone thinks the Mexican has a better chance at winning. “Everybody knew he was going to beat Charlo, right? Right or wrong? He was going to beat Caleb Plant, right? Right or wrong? So, sounds like excuses to me,” said Davis.

Okay, Canelo, you’re a hell of a fighter. But, I just feel like that was an excuse to not fight another great fighter,” added the 24-year-old who thinks Devin Haney will beat Ryan Garcia. However, the Olympic silver medalist encouraged Crawford to keep chasing the Canelo fight.

Lopez: "Terence Crawford Is The Mac Daddy Of All Those Guys"

I think ‘Bud’ should keep going for Canelo. That’s another fight that ya’ll would really wanna see that makes a lot of sense, great money for him on the back end of his career. For sure, do it,” he said enthusiastically. “Again, I respect Canelo. I truly do. Hell of a career, you know what I’m saying? All I’m saying is he just made up excuses to not fight another great fighter,” Keyshawn concluded. With that said, do you think Canelo Alvarez is making up excuses to avoid fighting Terence Crawford?

Ryan Garcia believes that Gervonta Davis’ power isn’t as big of a deal as claimed.

‘KingRy’ recently signed a deal to return to the boxing ring against Devin Haney on April 20. For Garcia, the fight will be his first since a knockout win over Oscar Duarte in December. That stoppage victory was an incredibly important one for the former interim champion.

The bout took place just months after Garcia suffered the first defeat of his career against ‘Tank’. Last April, the two stars met in Las Vegas in the biggest pay-per-view of the year. Despite some early success in the opening round from Garcia, it was largely dominated by Davis.

In the closing seconds of round two, Davis flattened Garcia. While the young boxer was able to climb off the canvas, he wound up being stopped in the seventh round by a body shot. Nearly a year on from that bout, Garcia was asked to rate Davis’ power in an interview.

Speaking with Jack Alter, Garcia argued that the lightweight champion doesn’t hit that hard. Instead, it’s Davis’ precise punching that causes more damage than anything. In the interview, ‘KingRy’ stated (via Boxing Social):

Ryan Garcia wants Gervonta Davis with no weight requirements attached.

Immediately following his loss to ‘Tank’ last April, the former champion instantly called for a rematch. Given the lopsided nature of the bout, however, it seems that the calls went on deaf ears.

However, with Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia coming up, it’s more than possible that the two could meet again. That’s if ‘KingRy’ can upset the WBC lightweight champion in just two months.

Speaking on a recent stream alongside Kick streamer Neon, he again called for a rematch with Gervonta Davis. However, Garcia added that there needs to be no weight clauses in the contract, unlike last time.

The boxer stated:

Oleksandr Usyk will fight Filip Hrgovic on May 18 if Tyson Fury pulls out of their bout again – and Usyk’s coach believes Fury is in “rapid decline” after being dropped by Francis Ngannou

Oleksandr Usyk has a ‘secret’ part in his fight deal that says he’ll box Filip Hrgovic on May 18 if Tyson Fury pulls out again.

The big fight between Fury and Usyk was meant to happen tonight in Saudi Arabia, but Fury had to stop training two weeks ago because he got a cut while sparring. The match, which will decide the first undisputed heavyweight champ since Lennox Lewis in 1999, was quickly moved to May 18.

If one of them can’t make the new date, they have to pay the other $10million from their fight contract. Usyk also made sure that if Fury doesn’t show up, he will fight the next boxer in line, Hrgovic.

Usyk’s coach Sergey Lapin spoke to Fruity Slots: “I hope Usyk will get the chance to settle the score with Fury on May 18, but if he continues to run, then we have a clause in the agreement to replace Fury with Filip Hrgovic,” and “Hrgovic is the back-up opponent, so the show will go on regardless of whether he shows up, this was also confirmed by His Excellency Turki Al Sheikh.”

Boxing: Tyson Fury: I'll smash Oleksandr Usyk in four rounds | Marca

Usyk has been ready for Fury since he beat Daniel Dubois last August in Poland. They almost fought on December 23, but after Fury nearly lost to Francis Ngannou last October, he needed more time.

Lapin expressed his doubts about Fury’s abilities after his match with the former UFC world champion. “Let’s say he did get cut – through a head guard and with large training gloves – can you imagine what will happen to his head when he receives a bomb from the Usyk in a ten-ounce glove?” he questioned.

“If Fury finally dares to enter the ring on May 18, then it will be a terrible dream for him, he has never boxed with a boxer of this level in his life. Ngannou exposed Fury for what he is, a fighter with too many miles on the clock, a fighter who has had too many wars, and a fighter who is now in rapid decline to the point he’s been badly troubled by sparring partners. ”

Since the confirmation of the Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney fight, drama has been filling the feed up. Both fighters have had some of the grandest careers. Haney has dominated the 135lbs division before moving to 140lbs and winning a title after beating Regis Prograis. Garcia was undefeated and dominated every fight until he faced Gervonta Davis.

Garcia was also involved in beef with his own promoter Oscar De La Hoya following which he was seen going around with Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. This new-found friendship between Mayweather and Garcia was not taken very well by everyone in the community. One such person was Bill Haney who made a post making fun of the duo, let us see how.

Haney made a video tweet on social media platform X, he starts by calling both Mayweather and Garcia out, saying, “Floyd, Money-May all day AKA Bernie Mac AKA Dollar Bill. Ryan AKA Diamond Garcia, after your infamous meeting at the AKA Player’s club better known as Girl Collection, you had a public slander campaign against me but don’t worry, I’m focused” for allegedly meeting in a club and slandering Haney. This reply from Haney came after Garcia called him out for ‘p*mping’ women.

Haney proceeded to make fun of Mayweather’s security saying, “I’m focused on.. FLoyd What happened to your security? I mean it looks like now you picked up a guy standing in front of a gas station, another guy at the car wash, one more guy at Mcdonald’s.” Calling his security out for looking inefficient and making jokes about them. In the end, Haney warned Garcia and Mayweather that on 20th April, playtime is done. However, this was not the first time that Haney got back at Garcia.

The former Interim World Lightweight champion got divorced from his wife Andrea Celina. This came right after the couple had their first child as well. Bill saw this as a great opportunity to fire back at Garcia. He said, “Here ya go kid(Ryan Garcia), read this and your ex wife will magically walk back in your life and you will live happily ever after.”

The tweet came with an attached image of a book named ‘Pi*p’, this was Haney’s attempt to get back at Garcia for calling him the same. The two have been going at it against each other for some time now. Garcia had also told Haney to keep a towel ready for his son on April 20th. The feud has now become all the Haneys against Garcia.

Do you think Garcia with Mayweather’s guidance will overpower the Haneys? Or will this fight be another upset for Garcia?

Tyson Fury took to social media to issue Oleksandr Usyk a reminder of the incredible shape he was in heading into their undisputed clash.

The long-awaited showdown to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis more than two decades ago was originally set to take place on February 17.

The fight was ultimately postponed last month after the Gypsy King sustained a serious cut over his right eye in sparring that required multiple stitches.

However the 12-round championship bout has since been rearranged and will now take place on May 18 in Saudi Arabia.

On the day he was originally scheduled to take on the Ukrainian inside the ring, Fury shared a clip of himself preparing for the clash looking lean while performing movement drills and medicine ball slams.

Commenting on the post, Fury’s fans praised the Gypsy King’s body transformation and insisted that Usyk is in for a long night when the pair finally meet inside the ring in May.

‘Cant help getting injured in sparring,’ he wrote. ‘But what I can say was Usyk was in trouble. I am in fantastic shape. I will reschedule soon as I can. 2024 a massive year for team GK.’

Fury weighed a career-highest 277.75lbs when he faced Francis Ngannou in October, narrowly overcoming the debuting former UFC heavyweight champion by split decision in Riyadh.

Anthony Joshua has been called out four weeks before returning to the ring against UFC legend Francis Ngannou, who barely lost to Tyson Fury last year.

Nate Diaz has called out Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury six months after being defeated by Jake Paul in his boxing debut. The long-time UFC fighter swapped sports last summer but lost by unanimous decision after being knocked down in the fifth round.

Diaz, 38, now wants a ‘real fight’ against anyone, including the top two British heavyweights. The Californian is adamant that he would ‘f*** up’ both despite coming in considerably undersized compared to the pair.

He fought Paul at a 185lbs cruiserweight catchweight, standing at 6ft with a 76in reach. In these hypothetical fights, Diaz would give up six and nine inches in height to Joshua and Fury respectively, while weighing between 50 and 90 lbs less.

But the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu third-degree black belt is undeterred by a lack of size. With two decades of fight experience behind him, Diaz believes he is a match for anyone.

“I’ll f*** up Tyson Fury. I’ll f*** up Anthony Joshua,” he told the American streamer Sneako. “All these motherf*****s in a real fight, like, they don’t stand a chance.

“And then it’s like, we’ve got, everybody’s going on boxing [Floyd] Mayweather. We’re playing a little game,” Diaz remarked regarding the rumours dating back to 2022 of fighting his fellow American.

He continued: “I don’t like being labelled an ‘MMA fighter’. I’m a boxer. I’m a Jiu-Jitsu guy. I’m a kickboxer. I don’t like any of the one-dimensional things by itself anyway. I like it all.”

But almost 18 months after leaving the UFC, he remains a free agent but was open to fighting at UFC 300 in April. “I wanted to, but I don’t think so,” Diaz added.

“I think I wanna do boxing, fight another fighter. I could fight anybody in the world right now, but no one can fight me. Everybody’s locked down to organisations, locked down to the UFC, PFL.”

He has previously touted the prospect of fighting at the anniversary event on social media. “UFC 300 would be tight, but there’s nobody to fight,” he posted on X late last year.

Diaz was due to face Conor McGregor in a rematch from UFC 196, but UFC president Dana White pulled his opponent from the card for refusing to fly to Las Vegas for promotional activities.

They later fought at UFC 202, which McGregor won by a majority decision. Diaz reminisced on that fight late last month by sharing a photo pre-fight photo with the caption: “Real war,” hinting at the prospect of a trilogy fight at UFC 300.

He also teased rematching Leon Edwards, who he lost to in his penultimate UFC fight, at the event late on Christmas Day, by sharing a gif from the first fight with the comment: “300”.

Tiger Woods is “doing much better” after he had to withdraw from the Genesis Invitational with flu-like symptoms, his business partner says.

Woods, who was playing in his first official PGA Tour event since last April’s Masters, was one over par after his first round in California.

The 48-year-old was driven off the course on a cart after teeing off on the seventh hole of his second round.

Woods went to the clubhouse for two hours and was given intravenous fluids.

The 15-time major champion then walked to his car before leaving the tournament he is hosting at Riviera Country Club.

His business partner Rob McNamara said Woods’ withdrawal was unrelated to his long-standing injury problems.

The American’s schedule has been limited since injuring his leg in a car crash in 2021 and he last played in December. He is still adapting after having ankle fusion surgery in April 2023.

The former world number one had back spasms towards the end of his first round on Thursday when he uncharacteristically shanked an approach shot on the 18th hole.

“Not physical at all. His back is fine. It was all medical illness, dehydration… the symptoms are reversing themselves now that he’s had an IV [drip],” said McNamara.

“He had a little bit of a fever and was better during the warm-up, but then when he got out there and was walking and playing, he started feeling dizzy.

“Ultimately the doctors are saying he’s potentially got some type of flu and that he was dehydrated. He’s been treated with an IV bag and he’s doing much, much better and he’ll be released on his own here soon.”

Woods had started his second round with a birdie at the par-five first hole but dropped shots at the fourth and fifth before he withdrew.

The four-time major champion struggled to a 74 in the first round, but recovered with a five-under-par 66 to put him at two under.

Meanwhile, former world number one Jordan Spieth was disqualified for the first time in his career after the 30-year-old American signed an incorrect scorecard.

The PGA Tour said Spieth signed for a three on the par-three fourth hole, when he had actually shot a four.

“Today, I signed for an incorrect scorecard and stepped out of the scoring area, after thinking I went through all procedures to make sure it was correct,” Spieth wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Novak Djokovic’s physio Miljan Amanovic has recently been seen in his box after scaling back his responsibilities.

Novak Djokovic’s long-serving physio Miljan Amanovic was forced to adapt his career after suffering a heart attack which he attributed to the stress of travelling on the tennis tour. Amanovic started working with the world No. 1 back in 2007 but has since taken a step back, working at Djokovic’s tennis centre in Serbia and travelling with him on a part-time basis.

Amanovic has been one of several trusted figures in Djokovic’s camp since the early days of his career. The pair started working together a year before the Serb won his first Grand Slam title in 2008 but they briefly split in 2017, when Djokovic gutted his team entirely, also axing long-term coach Marian Vajda and fitness trainer Gebhard Phil Gritsch.

While Amanovic eventually returned to Djokovic’s box, it came after he suffered a heart attack which meant that he could no longer travel full-time. The incident is mentioned in Novak Djokovic: The greatest of all time, a new book profiling the 24-time Major champion’s rise to the top of tennis.

Novak Djokovic | Biography, Grand Slams, & Facts | Britannica

After making a full recovery, the Croatian physio later said: “I survived a severe heart attack. I was resuscitated four times. Now I can say that it was God’s will in the true sense of the word, because if only one link in the chain of events had not been in place that day, I would probably have left this earthly life. They say that they fought for me for 40 minutes.”

Djokovic eventually rehired Amanovic and Vajda after getting rid of them in 2017. While Vajda left the camp for good in 2022, Amanovic has been seen cheering the world No. 1 on as recently as last month at the Australian Open. But he was forced to relieve his workload after the heart attack.

In 2022, Djokovic announced that the physio would be taking up a new role at his Novak Tennis Centre in Belgrade. “Miljan has travelled a lot, he has got three kids. Also, we have big plans here in the Novak Tennis Centre, we intend to transform it to an Academy, and Miljan is one of the key people there. I am delighted that he has accepted that role, he will mean the world to us,” he said during the Serbia Open – a tournament held at his facility.

Novak Djokovic's fall from world No 1 ranking confirmed in updated list

But Amanovic was back in his team by the end of the year after the world No. 1 got rid of his other physiotherapist Ulises Badio, who he hired in May 2017. Amanovic – who also worked with Red Star Belgrade – travelled to the 2023 Australian Open with Djokovic, who won the title despite suffering a hamstring tear.

He paid tribute to his long-time physio for looking after his body during the tournament, telling Serbian reporters: “Miljan is one of the closest people in my life. He has been working a lot these days, always gives his best. I am very grateful to Miljan, it would be a lot harder without him.”

Renowned tennis author and commentator Chris Bowers expressed a surprising fact about Novak Djokovic in the group of tennis’s big elite trios. The rivalry between Roger Federer and Spaniard Rafael Nadal was always celebrated more. It was 2003 when Djokovic turned pro in the scene. Chris Bowers evaluated how Djokovic entered the scene slightly and achieved way more than the Federer-Nadal duo.

Now Bowers knows Djokovic’s life details since he wrote the Serbian tennis god’s biography. He also narrated in an interview that Djokovic’s life stories are truly inspirational for any tennis young enthusiast. Now he delves deeper into Novak Djokovic’s position as a tennis personality.

Author and commentator Chris Bowers talks about profiling tennis legend Novak Djokovic

In Tennis Channel’s recent podcast, Chris Bowers spoke about the Federer-Nadal on-court rivalry and Djokovic’s swift entry into that group. He mentioned how despite not reaching the Federer-Nadal status at the beginning, the Serbian tennis god achieved more than the duo.

Federer and Nadal congratulate Djokovic for tying their Slam record

In this podcast, Bowers said- “Djokovic was a boy from, he wasn’t from poor background, but he was from modest surroundings, no history of tennis. It was a massive learning curve for the families had to go into the background of real chaos. Much better story. And yet the Federer book sells 10-1 better, which tells you something. If someone’s more popular, their story will sell, even if it’s not as good story as somebody who’s less popular. And that’s the tragedy of Djokovic. He is less understood because he’s not as popular, perhaps because he was the third man in a two man show.

Sharing the clip, the official X (formerly Twitter) page of Tennis Channel wrote- “‘People loved the Federer/Nadal rivalry, and Djokovic was a slight interloper in that respect, and ended up achieving more.’ Author and commentator @chris1bowers discusses what he learned profiling @DjokerNole on the Inside-In Podcast.”

Chris Bowers found Djokovic’s life tragedies influential to his unbelievable success in professional tennis

Novak Djokovic is superior to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in key area', claims renowned coach

In this same podcast, Bowers spoke about Novak Djokovic’s struggles to become a professional tennis player despite the war-like situation in his country while growing up. Bowers said- “the economy at the time when he was a teenager was really chaotic. When NATO planes bombed Belgrade, he had to move his practice every day, because they had to work on intelligence about, you know, what was likely to be bombed and what was probably going to be safe.”

Chris Bowers’s statement about Djokovic represented that despite his outstanding tennis achievements, he is not celebrated as much as Federer and Nadal are among the fans. However, looking at Djokovic’s great career track, he surely deserves to be acknowledged as one of the best ATP players.
