The most decorated gymnast of all time is eying the Paris Olympics, but says in a new interview that “it won’t absolutely crush me” if it doesn’t happen

Accustomed to reaching new heights in gymnastics, Simone Biles had a low moment after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

In an interview for the cover of February’s Vanity Fair, the most decorated gymnast of all time said her experience with the dreaded “twisties” — and the related mental health issues she faced — resulted in a landing far from perfect following the competition.

“I wish I could sit here and tell you it was glorious,” Biles, 26, told the magazine about her two-year hiatus from international competition. “When I took a break after 2016, I had the time of my life. I was doing anything and everything. But after 2020, it was kind of depressing until I started therapy and got help. I felt like a failure.”

She continued, “Even though I was empowering so many people and speaking out about mental health, every time I talked about my experience in Tokyo — because it obviously didn’t go the way that I had planned — it stung a little bit. But all in all, it was the best decision.”

Yet the public narrative which put Biles on a “pedestal as a mental-health advocate” didn’t sit well with the athlete.

“I was not okay with that,” she said. “If I can be a lending hand and help people, then I’ll be open, honest, and vulnerable, but you cannot stick me in front of a crowd and say, ‘Do everything she’s doing.’ ”

SInce her time away from the sport, Biles went on to find personal success away from the mat — marrying Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens last spring — as she gradually mapped a course back to the floor.

In October, the superstar gymnast won her sixth all-around world championship gold in Belgium, and grabbed the record for most international gymnastics medals in the history of the sport.

With her confidence in check and the acknowledgment last year that she has overcome a fear twisting and becoming disoriented in mid-air — which was what forced her to pull out of the team competition and later, all-around events at the Tokyo Olympics — Biles is ready for the Summer Olympics, if that should come to pass.

“If I don’t make it to Paris, it won’t absolutely crush me,” she told Vanity Fair.

Last summer, Biles gave a glimpse about her plans when she spoke with PEOPLE about her comeback and her possible renewed Olympic dream.

“Well, in the future, goodness, I feel like Paris is always a good topic to go to, but I think right now, I’m just going to live in the now,” Biles told PEOPLE. “I just did Classics and Championships and I’m out here competing again when I never thought I would be competing, especially back to the same level and having the same confidence.”

The winner of Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora is set to face the big sharks of the welterweight class. While the two battle it out for Tszyu’s WBO super welterweight belt and the vacant WBC title, both Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford have expressed their desire to challenge whoever goes home with those titles in their kitty.

On Saturday night, at the iconic T-Mobile Arena of Las Vegas, 20-1-1 record holder, Fundora will fight his Aussie opponent, Tszyu, in hopes of grabbing hold of the titles that he’s been chasing for a while. However, that’s not his only incentive. A fight against either ‘Bud’ or ‘The Truth’ will only push him into the elite fighters’ league of the weight class. Is he willing for such an undertaking?

He wrote, “Headed to Vegas. I want the winner!! #TszyuFundora,” but Tszyu didn’t bat an eye. The Texan was meant to fight Bud in a rematch in December. However, he opted for eye surgery, letting the rematch period elapse.

Amid so much controversy surrounding this fight, the proposed rules have been revealed and many don’t like them

The world of boxing is still very much divided after Netflix announced that Jake Paul is fighting Mike Tyson and the event will stream on their platform on July 20th. Outrage over Tyson’s advanced age is the most prevalent feeling amongst boxing fans but there is also a large part of them who believe Mike will knock the crap out of Jake Paul. The Youtuber’s fans obviously back him to win the fight against a legend and some even dare say he will get the knock out. For many, this age difference is too large to ignore and Mike Tyson has been struggling with body pain issues for years. Plus, any type of head traume reacts differently on an elderly gentleman compared to a young man. Rules need to be applied to this fight but they haven’t been made official yet. These are only the proposed rules if the match is an exhibition.

Boxing fans are a little outraged after the new proposed rules for the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight have been released. When the former heavyweight champ returned to activity, he and Roy Jones Jr., fought for 8 rounds and there wasn’t a declared winner. It was a draw and both men seemed quite tired right after the fight. First we have the glove size, which will be 16 oz instead of the usual 16 oz gloves. That makes sense, none of the two fighters should make any objections. Also, each of the 8 rounds that were agreed will last 2 minutes instead of 3. So far, it doesn’t look like that will make much of a difference.

Tony Bellew weighs in on 'frightening' Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight | talkSPORT

But here is where the proposed rules get a little absurd. There will be no official judges for this fight, according to the official ruling. Another rule is that no winner will be declared after the fight ends unless there is a knock out. Last but not least, each fighter needs to pass an EEG and EKG test before the fight. This will ensure that no fighter will abuse any type of steroids near the date of the vent. Fans are outrages at these rules because they won’t feel like anything is at stake. But people need to stop putting Mike Tyson on a pedestal, the man is still pushing 58 years of age. What do you think about these rules for the July 20 event?

Now that we know the proposed rules for an exhibition are designed to protect an elderly Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul, who has close friends like Dana White extremely concerned about him. The UFC president was so worried that he reached out to Mike’s wife, Lakiha ‘Kiki’ Spicer to ask if Tyson was absolutely certain he wanted to fight. Fortunatey, what Dana White heard from her made him feel at ease. In a recent podcast interview, White was asked about the previous comments he made about the fight. Famously, White disapproved of this event even taking place due to Mike Tysons age. But he seems to be more accepting of what is about to happen on July 20.

Dana White explains why Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson isn't a “serious” fight - Dexerto

Dana White revealed that the Tyson family seems to have everything under control. However, they also revealed the offer was impossible to refuse. He said: “I talked to his wife a couple of days ago and he’s taking it serious and he’s training for it. I think Mike Tyson is one of the most unique guys who has crossed over. Any of the other fighters from his generation have no way of making money without fighting and Mike Tyson has made a lot of money outside of fighting. Tyson still has that aura that you could be in a restaurant, you’d be like ‘Holy f***, Mike Tyson is here.’ He still has that aura and energy in a room, he makes lots of money outside of the ring. But I think he ends up getting these offers that he can’t refuse.”

So much people talking about what they feel Mike Tyson should do, nobody is asking the former champ how he feels about all this concern for his well-being. All we see from him are those training videos that do look frightening as he is still ripped and looking just as scary as ever. But stepping on that ring will be an entirely different feeling for a man who is pushing 58 and has suffered many body ache issues over the last decade. Hopefully, Tyson can at least come out of this experience in one piece both mentally and physically.

The lead-up to the fight between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney is filled with name-calling. The latter’s father-cum-trainer, Bill Haney, has now roped in Floyd Mayweather and his business aide, Leonard Ellerbe, accusing the duo of recording a controversial sparring video of his son, that went viral earlier this month.

Hostilities percolate deep within for the 20th April matchup. ‘Ry’ in his means of pulling down his opponent, leaked a video of Gervonta Davis causing serious damage to ‘The Dream’ in an old sparring session at the Mayweather Gym. While it looked like the controversy had died down in light of Ry’s other internet antics, it seems like senior Haney is still sore about it.

When asked about the video that showed his son taking some major beating, a riled-up Bill Haney blamed Mayweather and his promotion company’s CEO Leonard Ellerbe for recording the video. He remarked to Fight Hub TV“He didn’t leak the video, he made the highlight film and then gave it to Ryan Garcia to leak it.”

As per reports, the video dates back to when Devin, now 25, was almost 17 and ‘Tank’, now 29 was 21. In the video, Tank can be seen going hard at Haney, leaving him hardly any moment to recuperate. While it showed the 2-division champion under heavy pressure, he claimed that the fight was edited to omit the last few moments of it.

Why did they not release the entire video, though? Senior noted, “Same reason why Floyd didn’t show the video of Devin when he got in his a**. Imma tell you this one time, I guarantee you, after Floyd got in there with Devin, he rethought boxing from a professional standpoint and not an exhibition standpoint.”

In an earlier interview, Senior Haney claimed that when ‘Money’ and his son sparred, the former welterweight champion was not even close to making it equal to Devin Haney. He noted, “He should’ve showed the sparring video of him and Devin while he’s showing all those sparring videos. And it was 6-0, it wasn’t close.”

Haney-Lomachenko: The Week That Was

The Haneys and Mayweather are not on good terms. Post the ‘KingRy’ fight, if he successfully dominates it, Haney will strongly push for a fight against the WBA light titlist, Tank. While he is no longer associated with ‘Pretty Boy’, there are worries if his cordial relationship with the latter implicates the fight against Haney. To these concerns, Bill Haney has an answer.

In the conversation, Bill Haney observed that his beef with Mayweather and Ellerbe would not jeopardise a fight between his son and Davis. After all, it is the audience that seeks this fight, and their wish is his command.

He explained, “No, the people pay the bills. Leonard don’t pay the bills. Floyd don’t pay the bills. The people, all you guys, pay for the fight. They can’t, we don’t dictate that. You guys put the bullseye on a fighter’s back. Leonard don’t dictate nothing.”

Gervonta Davis proved his might when he dethroned a rising star with a thunderous knockout victory over Rolly Romero. The sixth-round left-hand blast extinguished Romero’s perfect record and solidified Davis’ dominance in the lightweight division. Before the explosive finish, the fight lived up to its bad blood billing.

Romero, considered Davis’ biggest threat, surprised many by holding his own. One judge even had him leading on the scorecards. But Davis, known for his knockout power, turned the outcome in his favor. Besides this, Romero sat down for an interview with his promoter Leonard Ellerbe, who recalled the conversation they had right after his fight against ‘Tank’.

Ellerbe revealed the depth of their conversation. He further highlighted Romero’s initial dejection and the subsequent pep talk aimed at lifting his spirits. He stated, “I give you another great example. After the Tank fight, we were on the plane together, we sat next to each other and we literally talk for five-five and a half hours…

Then he also added, “Yeah, and we talked the entire time. And obviously he was dejected, you know. Coming off of his first loss, and the magnitude of what it was. And I was just like, ‘Yo like, pick your damn head up. Yo, it’s like you lost to the best motherf***er in the entire world, okay. You’re not going to fight anybody else like him. Nobody’s going to be better than him that you ever step in the ring with in this generation right here.

He stated that the best boxer won that night, and he shouldn’t be making any excuses because he did his best as a fighter. Moreover, Romero even compared his upcoming opponent Isaac Cruz‘s fight against Davis with his fight against Tank.

Super lightweight champion Rolly Romero throws shade at Gervonta Davis ahead of his own fight with Isaac Cruz. Romero claims Davis’s struggle against Cruz wasn’t a sign of Cruz’s brilliance, but Davis’s limitations. Romero points to a hidden injury and Cruz’s shorter stature as reasons for Davis’s lackluster performance.

Davis is known for his power, but Romero suggests Cruz’s height threw him off balance, causing confusion and hindering his ability to unleash his left hand. “Everybody says Pitbull did this and that,” Romero scoffs, implying the praise for Cruz is overblown. For Romero, the only reason for the hype is Davis’s failure to secure a knockout.

Tyson Fury will fight Oleksandr Usyk with all the heavyweight titles on the line – but one of the Ukrainian’s previous opponents is concerned for the ‘Gypsy King’

Tony Bellew has shared his concerns for Tyson Fury ahead of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk. The pair are due to face off in May in a historic battle with all the heavyweight title belts on the line.

Both Usyk and the ‘Gypsy King’ will also put their undefeated records on the line at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia. As the boxing world prepares for this titanic bout, Bellew, who retired in 2018, is confident that Usyk, the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO champion, will claim victory.

“On the technical side of things, Tyson Fury has always struggled with smaller movers and is horrendous when it comes to counter-punchers,” Bellew told Spinbet. “If you go on the backfoot against Fury, he is lost.” Despite being the smaller and shorter man in the fight, Bellew thinks Usyk has the ideal style to cause Fury problems.

SecondsOut Boxing News - Main News - Tyson Fury vs Olekandr Usyk - Will they, won't they?

Bellew, who ended his career with a defeat to Usyk, used Francis Ngannou as an example to illustrate how the 35-year-old could struggle. When competing in his very first boxing match in October 2023, the Cameroonian dropped Fury and gave him problems throughout their encounter.

Bellew then elaborated on the keys to Ngannou’s performance which he thinks Usyk can utilise to end Fury’s undefeated streak. “A complete boxing novice Francis Ngannou went on the backfoot against Fury and caused him all kinds of problems,” he added. And I mean a raw, complete novice in Francis Ngannou.

This fight was originally scheduled for February, but the WBC Heavyweight champion pulled out after sustaining a nasty cut above his eye while sparring. Now Krassyuk is unsure it will happen this time, let alone a rematch which is part of the contract.

“Theoretically, the rematch should happen before the end of 2024,” he told World Boxing News. “And after he loses to Usyk in the first bout, you cannot predict his behaviour at all.

“I say this, but I have no guarantee that the first fight ever takes place. The man has withdrawn four times in a row already. We have even decided to stop all the jokes and criticisms towards Luke to support his confidence. So, if there is anything else we can do to help him get in the ring with Usyk, we are ready to do that.”

Tony Finau shot a third-round 64 at the 2019 Masters that jumped him into contention for his first major title. But that also meant, due to the final-round tee times being pushed to the morning due to weather, that he’d be in the final threesome with Woods.

If he was expecting Woods to be chatty while he chased down his 15th major, he was mistaken. After the two exchanged pleasantries on the 1st hole, Finau said he didn’t hear a word from Woods until No. 7.

“Tiger and I are walking next to each other off the tee and I said, ‘Hey, Tiger,’” Finau said. “You know, it’s kind of awkward. I’m like, how come he’s not talking to you? Yeah. I should say something to him. So I’m like, ‘Hey, Tiger, how’s the kids,’ you know?
