Jake Paul has left a good impression in his role as a boxer. In his short career, the influencer has a 9-1 record; however, his next opponent is none other than Mike Tyson, and according to former boxer Roy Jones Jr.“Iron Mike” could be more than the “Terrible Child” can handle.

Jones, champion in four different weight divisions, was Tyson’s most recent rival. Officially retired in 2017, Jones Jr. returned to the ring to face Tyson in an eight-round exhibition fight four years ago.

Although the fight was declared a draw, Jones Jr. was able to see firsthand that Tyson still retained the punching power that led him to rack up 10 successful defenses of his world heavyweight championship.

Following his experience with TysonJones Jr. issued a warning to Jake Paul“If he hits anybody square on the chin it’s going to be problematic, I don’t care who it is.”

Tyson still hits like he did on his best days

In conversation with “The Lunch Club,”Jones Jr. recalled that the Tyson-Paul fight would no longer be an exhibition and would be sanctioned as a real fight. “If it’s a fight, it’s very interesting how it may turn out,” noted the former champion.

He admitted that Paul has improved with each fight, “but Mike Tyson, even at 58 or however old he is, is still Mike Tyson. When I boxed him, he still punched like Mike Tyson.”Jones also warned, “If Mike comes out and does what Mike normally does, then it’s going to be a tough situation for Jake.”

“I like Jake Paul,”Jones admitted, “he’s a good guy, and he’s doing good with his boxing stuff. I think it’s a good promotional situation for him and Mike. They should go really good numbers, especially having upgraded to a real fight.”

Finally, he considered that there is still hope for Paul“If Jake can stay away from him for four or five rounds, then Jake has a chance, but he’s going to have to do a lot of maneuvering to stay away from him.”

However, he agreed with Jones Jr. by pointing out that the attention the fight is generating is almost incredible, and he said he feels grateful for the reception it has had from the public.

UPDATE :Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson: Everything you need to know, including rules and predictions

Tyson and Paul will meet on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. In yet another twist that so-called “influencer boxing” has brought, Netflix will stream the fight exclusively.

The highly-anticipated super fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could happen sooner rather than later, according to Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum.

Boxing fans may be treated to a super fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua earlier than expected. According to the former’s Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum, a specific “arrangement” could allow the pair of Brits to meet in the ring sooner rather than later.

Fury is set to face off against Oleksandr Usyk on May 18 in Saudi Arabia, with the winner being crowned the undisputed heavyweight champion. The two boxers are already under a contractual agreement to rematch immediately after their first bout, and Joshua is expected to fight the winner at a later date.

If Fury is able to decisively beat Usyk in dominant fashion, however, Arum argues their second fight could be discarded in favour of a matchup between the “Gypsy King” and Joshua. The latter is fresh off an impressive victory over Francis Ngannou in early March, and he has won his last four fights after suffering back-to-back defeats to Usyk.

“I think the knock on Joshua has been that he’d lost his confidence,” Arum told the Daily Mail. “If a fighter loses his confidence, he’s very diminished. Now Joshua seems to be regaining his confidence, and if that continues Joshua will be a very dangerous fighter that could compete with anybody.

“What happens if Fury-Usyk turns out to be a classic? A fight that is so exciting and so thrilling that the public wants to see it again,” he continued. “Then that would certainly trump a Joshua fight, and contractually, it’s a fight that has to happen.

“Now, what happens if it’s a one-sided fight and Fury wins the fight? Then maybe everybody can sit down with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh and work out some arrangement to go right to Fury-Joshua.

Arum attributed the close nature of the fight to Tyson being out of shape, but insisted he’d be far better prepared for his upcoming matchup. “I look at his performance with Fury as really Fury being not ready to fight anybody that night, but Ngannou did what he had to do to make it competitive,” he said.

“[Fury] knows how tough a fight Usyk is. Usyk is a tremendous athlete, very determined, has never lost a fight. So I really believe we’ll see the best of Tyson Fury on May 18.”

TYSON FURY could accelerate his chances of fighting Anthony Joshua by putting on a masterclass against Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury faces Usyk in the heavyweight division’s first four-belt unification bout on May 18 in Saudi Arabia.

And the two are contracted to an immediate rematch right after, leaving AJ with a wait to fight either.

But Fury’s Hall of Fame US promoter Bob Arum believes if the Gypsy King can beat Usyk convincingly enough, the rematch could be scrapped.

And it would then allow Joshua, 34, to fill in to commence a Battle of Britain bout sooner than expected.

Arum told the Daily Mail: “I think the knock on Joshua has been that he’d lost his confidence. If a fighter loses his confidence, he’s very diminished.

“So, one fight at a time, that’s my motto.”

Tyron Woodley’s two professional boxing fights have resulted in a pair of losses to Jake Paul, but the former MMA star is now setting his sights on Manny Pacquiao.

“I don’t wanna have to start ruffling Manny Pacquiao’s feathers, but if that’s what I gotta do to get this done because I can’t just linger around waiting,” Woodley told TMZ Sports. “If I take another fight, that can f–k this fight up.”

Woodley said he’s been negotiating with Pacquiao’s camp for months, but the two sides have not been able to reach an agreement. The deal would apparently pay Woodley and Pacquiao millions of dollars to go head-to-head, despite Woodley’s two appearances in a boxing ring being underwhelming.

Woodley lost to Paul via split decision in August 2021 and then was knocked out by the Problem Child four months later. Dating back to the four straight losses that ended his MMA career, Woodley is now 0-6 in his last six fights.

In the same TMZ interview, Woodley revealed he was supposed to originally fight longtime Pacquiao rival Floyd Mayweather last year. Mayweather instead pivoted to an exhibition against John Gotti III.

“I was supposed to be the original fight, and the plug kind of got pulled,” Woodley said.

Pacquiao retired from boxing after losing to Yordenis Ugás in August 2021. He performed in an exhibition against DK Yoo in December 2022 and has expressed an interest in a more serious potential return.

The 45-year-old held political office as a senator in his native Philippines from 2016 and 2022 and cited those commitments at the time of his retirement. With his schedule clearer two years later, it’s possible Pacquiao could return to the ring for a paycheck against a likely overmatched Woodley.

Last night was not easy for Rolando Romero. His fight against Isaac Cruz went against him and then some. He not only took a major dent in his record but also lost his WBA Superlight title to ‘The Pitbull’. However, the scorecard had a story that many disagreed with, including Claressa Shields.

Cruz took control of the fight right from the beginning. He broke through the defense of ‘Rolly’ early, leading it with a left hook to the temple in the opening round. That set the premise for the fight, Rolly’s first defense since he bagged the title last year after beating Ismael Borroso. Consistent throughout, Cruz dropped Las Vegas-based Rolly in the 8th round, winning the WBA title through a technical knockout. While the judges scored resoundingly in favor of him, one stuck with Rolly, causing major havoc post-fight.

When the scorecard of the Cruz vs. Rolly fight emerged, the numbers on it shocked fans. While two judges scored 63-69 and 64-68, both in favor of Cruz, Chris Flores scored 66-65, in favor of Rolly. If the fight had not ended in a knockout, and if these scores continued, we would still see the 25-year-old Mexican fighter as the winner, however, through a split decision.

Multiple folks remained unimpressed with the judge who scored in favor of Rolly. Boxer, Ishé Oluwa Kamau Ali Smith, wrote on his X, “Whatever judge had Rolly up needs to be banned from boxing. F*cking ridiculous.” Concurring with what Ali Smith expressed, undisputed middleweight champion, Shields also went off on the judge.

While the judge whos decision did not align with popular opinion could demoralize Cruz, the fighter stood strong on his ground after the victory. Here is what he had to say.

Going into the fight, he was prepared for the worst to befall. That preparation pulled him through and got him the win. He further explained, “I was prepared for this. I wasn’t here to just fight. I was here to terminate him…I did my talking right here in the ring. And I did this not just for me, but for everybody that is here at T-Mobile Arena. There’s going to be a Mexican champ at 140 pounds for a long time.”

The fighter has been chasing a rematch against Gervonta Davis, to whom he lost in 2021 on points. By winning the championship last night, he cemented his position in the lighter-weight divisions stronger than ever. Hence, he inches closer to the ‘Tank’ fight. Will that be where he’s headed next?
