Boxing fans were left in suspense after the postponement of the highly anticipated bout between Mike Tyson and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, originally scheduled for July 20. The postponement was due to an ulcer flare-up Tyson suffered during a recent flight, which prevented him from being deemed medically fit for the bout.

In a recent video, Mike Tyson released a message that chilled many, including Jake Paul. In the clip, Tyson looks determined and threatens a brutal end to his opponent:

“Different date. Same destination. I’m going to knock out Jake Paul. Different date. Same destination. I’m going to knock out Jake Paul.”

A new date for the showdown was decided a few days ago. The legendary former heavyweight champion and known as “Iron Mike” will step into the ring with Jake Paul on Friday, Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, not far from Dallas.

With the new date set, anticipation is growing and both fighters are preparing for a showdown that promises to be historic.

Former featherweight world champion Barry McGuigan has insisted that Daniel Dubois can exploit a ‘chink in Anthony Joshua’s armour’.

The 26-year-old is the frontrunner to box Joshua in his next fight on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

Queensberry chief Frank Warren recently informed talkSPORT that the pair are currently in talks to face each other later this year in a fight that could be for the IBF heavyweight title.

Dubois defeated Filip Hrgovic on the unprecedented Queensberry-Matchroom 5 vs 5 card two weeks ago to pick up the IBF ‘interim’ belt and may end up being elevated to full champion if the major sanctioning body strips Oleksandr Usyk.

This is dependent on the IBF’s ruling over Usyk’s request for an exception to allow him to hold onto the belt for the Tyson Fury rematch on December 21, rather than face his mandatory challenger next.

Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn told to ‘grow a pair’ by Daniel Dubois’ trainer

Regardless of whether the all-British showdown is for a title or not, Dubois will feel like a world champion if he topples AJ.

‘Triple D’ opens up as a heavy underdog with the bookies, but McGuigan insists that if he can land flush on Joshua’s chin, then it could be ‘Goodnight Irene’.

“If he gets through to Joshua’s chin then its game on,” wrote McGuigan in his column with the Mirror.

“Joshua is the more complete fighter, marginally quicker. And he has rebuilt impressively since he lost for the second time to Usyk.

“There is, however, still a chink in his armour first exposed by Andy Ruiz that makes him vulnerable to the kind of power packed by Dubois.

“Most would still take Joshua to win. But nothing is a given if Dubois can back up his Hrgovic victory with another mature performance.”

Joshua’s chin has regularly been called into question since his knockout defeat to Andy Ruiz in 2019.

One day after the one-year anniversary of the PGA-Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund announcing the Framework Agreement, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and Tiger Woods are leading a group that is meeting in person with the PIF’s governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan on Friday afternoon in New York.

Speaking to a handful of reporters, including Sports Illustrated’s Bob Harig on Thursday, Rory McIlroy, who was named to the Tour’s Transaction Subcommittee a few weeks ago, confirmed he would be part of the meeting, joining remotely via video conference following his second round of the Memorial in Dublin, Ohio.

McIlroy said the group has talked three times a week with the Saudis. The New York meeting represents their first in-person gathering since March. The other members of the committee are Adam Scott, board liaison Joe Ogilvie, Enterprises chairman Joe Gorder and Fenway Sports Group principal John Henry.

“There’s going to be people in that room on the PGA Tour side who are going to take the lead,” McIlroy told a handful of reporters after his round. “And it’s not going to be Adam, Tiger or I. It’s going to be the business guys. We’re there to maybe give a perspective from a player’s point of view.

“This is a negotiation about an investment in the PGA Tour Enterprises, this is big-boy stuff. And I’ll certainly be doing more listening than I will be doing talking.”

Henry, whose Fenway Sports Group owns the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club and Pittsburgh Penguins, is one of the leaders of the ‘big-boy stuff.’ In an engaging profile of Henry, the Financial Times includes the story of how Strategic Sports Group, which already has invested $1.5 billion in PGA Tour Enterprises and potentially as much as $3 billion, came to be.

A year ago in June, a week after the blockbuster news of the PGA Tour-Saudi PIF’s framework agreement and intention to create a new for-profit company, Henry was in New York to attend a routine meeting of baseball owners.

“Henry couldn’t understand how it had come to this. Why was golf, the most well-heeled of elite sports, so desperate for financial salvation that it would merge with its ideological and marketplace opposite?” Sara Germano writes on FT.com. “Seated in a midtown skyscraper with a half-dozen of his fellow billionaires — all men, all American — at the Major League Baseball meeting, he saw a group of like-minded titans. Couldn’t they come up with an alternative plan for the PGA Tour, he wondered. Henry started asking around the room: would you put up some funds to invest in golf? How about you? To others present for the meeting, golf was the last thing they thought Henry would be interested in. “He has a lot of hobbies, but that’s not one of them,” recalled Sam Kennedy, chief executive of FSG and one of Henry’s closest associates for more than two decades. But Henry wasn’t making a passion play. He had seen a problem and was in a roomful of people with the means to fix it.”

According to the Financial Times, the baseball owner’s meeting became the launch pad of SSG, a consortium of American businessmen whose portfolios include all manner of global sports. As Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons and PGA Tour Superstore, told FT.com, Henry’s pitch went like this: “the world of golf was in “turmoil,” and would he have any interest in joining an optional financial lifeline to the PGA Tour, either instead of or in addition to the PIF merger?

Savannah Marshall has a clear plan for her MMA career.

Marshall is the undisputed super middleweight champion of women’s boxing, but on Saturday, she trades in her 10-ounce gloves for four-ounce ones when she makes her MMA debut against Mirela Vargas at PFL Europe 2, in Newcastle, England.

On The MMA Hour, Marshall explained how she ended up making the move from the ring to the cage.

“How it came about, it was after my fight with Claressa [Shields] at the O2,” Marshall said. “Obviously she signed with the PFL. They approached me and said, ‘Look, have you ever thought about doing MMA? Would you consider a potential matchup with Claressa in the cage?’ And that was it. I was like, why not? It’s not something I’ve thought about but it got my ears pricked and I’m invested.”

“It was never on the bucket list, but when lockdown hit in 2020, I remember seeing MMA fighters getting a lot more opportunities than female boxers were,” Marshall continued later. “So I did a little bit … a couple sessions with Molly McCann and Leah McCourt in Liverpool, and I remember thinking, ‘Nothing is taking off for women boxers, so let’s give it a go.’ Then women’s boxing went through the roof and we were getting all these opportunities and I got a world title opportunity.”

Marshall previously faced Shields in October of 2022 for the undisputed middleweight title. With Marshall’s WBO belt and Shields’ WBA, WBC, IBF, and The Ring titles on the line, Shields won a unanimous decision in a competitive matchup. Shields signed with PFL in 2020 and a rematch inside the cage is Marshall’s primary goal for now.

Savannah Marshall admits she lost to Claressa Shields: 'I thought the right woman won' | DAZN News GB

“They’ve given me a four-fight deal, and I think it’s all about what happens Saturday, to go from there,” Marshall said. “Whether I’ll get the Claressa rematch, whether I don’t. Obviously there’s a lot of politics and things behind it, but that is the goal for me.”

Shields has fought three times in the PFL, building a 2-1 record that has left fans wondering if MMA is something the boxing champion should continue to pursue. And while Marshall was equally critical of Shields at first, after putting herself in the same situation, she now has a better appreciation for what Shields is doing.

“To be honest, before I started training myself, I was really critical,” Marshall said. “And then when I started doing it myself, I thought, right, I can see how she’s struggling, [smiles] because the transition from boxing to MMA, it’s a lot harder than what I thought. A lot harder.”

But the time is almost here where Marshall gets to put all the work into practice, and she’s ready for the opportunity.

“It’s exciting,” Marshall said. “For a long time now, I don’t think I’ve experienced nerves, really, fight week for boxing. So because this is all new, I’m waiting for them to kick in…

“I’ve never been in the cage before. I’ve never walked to the fight in flip-flops before. To me, this is all the unknown.”

PFL Europe 2 takes place Saturday at Utilita Arena in Newcastle, England.

His excellency Turki Alalshikh is the man responsible for this recent boxin revival he has put together with his Riyadh Season events in Saudi Arabia. The most recent fight was arguably the most important boxing eventt he has put together, it was reported that it sold an excess of 1.5 pay-per-view sales. it was the Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk fight. But despite these results, Alalshikh still came out short with the fight’s finances. The chairman of Saudi Arabia’s entertainment authority reportedly lost $27 million despite making over $50 million from PPV sales alone. All of this information comes from a recent report made by the folks at ESPN, who made a detailed explanation of how his excellency lost all that money despite how successful the event was.

Other sources of revenue where the event did gangbusters was from sponsors, they got a cool $40 million from that alone. Plus, the ticket sales attracted an extra $3 million but that still wasn’t enough to even come close to

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch on 21 December says Saudi official - BBC Sportbreak even. If we make an addition to all of those numbers, we come up with $93 million of revenue that the event generated in total. However, the final cost of this event was a staggering $120 million. This translates into a whopping $27 million deficit that left Turki Alalshikh with absutely no earnings from this. But it’s probably accurate to think this is not going to prevent Alalshikh from making more events of this nature down the line.

Tyson Fury Vs. Oleksandr Usyk Does Over 1.5 Million PPV Buys

There are not many promoters like his excellency, who can see the value of putting together an event that will make them lose money but it will deliver a historic moment. That fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is already one of the greatest heavyweight fights in boxing history. Turki Alalshikh understands that his name and his country will be linked to this event forever. We still have the rematch coming up and judging on these results, Alalshikh will probably come into it knowing he may lose millions again. But none of that matters to a country where they make money from oil production.

After several days of negotiations, the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight is not going to be cancelled but only postponed

Since last week’s medical emergency happened during a flight, Mike Tyson has been debating with his closest family on whether fighting Jake Paul is a good idea or not. Apparently, he made the decision to fight and simply postpone the date of the already existing deal. New information came from Netflix themselves, who made the announcement that the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight is not going to be cancelled. We are only looking at a postponement and a moving date. Initially, this fight was slated to happen on July 20 this year. Now we are getting a different date with both fighters agreeing that this would be the best time to step on the ring.

Mike Tyson’s medical emergency didn’t allow for him to continue training with the July 20 date in his mind. That’s the main reason they decided to postpone the event.

As one of the biggest pay-per-view draws in the sport, Gervonta Davis has no shortage of opponents lining up to face him for a bumper pay-day.

One man who has been calling for that fight for years is fellow American and three-weight world champion, Shakur Stevenson.

Stevenson currently holds the WBC lightweight title, whilst ‘Tank’ has the WBA belt.

Speaking to Cigar Talk about the potential unification bout, Davis assured fans that Stevenson is on his hit-list.

Now that resurgent two-time heavyweight king Anthony Joshua has fought his way back into form it seems he has a target on his back as a former champion declares he is ‘coming to get’ him.

For several years Joshua was the biggest name in the sport. He went on a superb run of form that saw him pick up three of the four major world titles and knock out the majority of the men he faced. That was until late stand-in Andy Ruiz Jr spoiled things and dramatically stopped ‘AJ’ in Madison Square Garden in New York back in June 2019.
