Ryan Garcia continues to live his moment of fame after his surprise win over Devin Haney last weekend, and he’s even already thinking about a heavyweight fight against Anthony Joshua.
For some time now, Garcia has been in the middle of controversy for his behavior and his controversial comments through social networks, which have even made many people worry about his mental health, or that they thought he was not taking his fight against Devin Haney seriously as he seemed to spend too much time posting messages on the networks
But the 25-year-old stunned the world by dominating The Dream, turning the night at the Barclays Center into a nightmare for his Californian rival who still holds the WBC Super-lightweight title.

Now he’s aiming to punch higher, literally, as he calls out Anthony Joshua who is the former unified heavyweight champion of the world who recently knocked out Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.
“However, we want AJ [Joshua]. I want AJ I want AJ,” Garcia said during a livestream on X.com, formerly Twitter. “I want to fight AJ, come on.
“I’m going up to heavyweight. Give me about three years, I’m going to kick his ass. Hey, when I knock AJ out, what would they [haters] say then? After that, they won’t be able to [hate me].”

It’s going to be tongue in cheek otherwise it would be an insane thing to attempt to pull off as Joshua enjoys an eight-inch height advantage, 12-inch reach advantage and weighed 111 pounds more than Garcia did against Haney, when he took on Ngannou recently.
Who is next for Ryan Garcia?
Garcia’s victory over Haney reassured the boxing world that he is still a serious force to be reckoned with after Gervonta Davis knocked him out in early 2023 and now he’s looking to his next target but who might that be?
The Mexican-American is set to step up to a different weight class entirely as he could face off with Tim Tszyu at 154 pounds in a super-welterweight face-off, with Sebastian Fundora being unavailable due to injury and Tszyu is pushing for it to happen.

“By the time he makes his way up to 154lbs, Timmy will be the champion across everything,” George Rose of No Limit Boxing told Sporting News. “I hope he does come up because he’s an absolute superstar of global boxing.
“He’s a guy who can fight, can absolutely fight, can punch, can mix it with the best and Timmy Tszyu’s going to be the best in the 154 division all over again. I would happily see Ryan Garcia come up to 154 and we’d love to accommodate him.”
