Heavyweight legend Tyson will take on YouTuber Paul in Texas this summer in a controversial fight which has split opinion

Mike Tyson has been backed to beat Jake Paul by Ryan Garcia – despite the boxer having been a champion of the YouTuber in the past.

Heavyweight legend Tyson will take on social media star Paul in Texas this summer despite having not fought professionally for almost 20 years. His last outing in the ring was a bore draw in an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

But Tyson, who will be 58 on fight night, has received support from Garcia who was an early backer of Paul who burst on to the boxing scene having made his name from viral videos.

Garcia, who shocked Devin Haney in New York last weekend, said: “I love you, Mike. You look good. I’m going to your fight, I’ll be there. I’m with you in everything, remember that, always in spirit. I got you. Love you, Mike.”

Paul and Garcia met while they lived in Los Angeles with the latter introducing his new friend to boxing. But after Paul knocked out Ryan Bourland in the first round of his last fight earlier this year, Garcia admitted he regretted their allegiance.

He said:”Okay enough, it’s on. I’m going to have to do this! I’m going to end this JAKE PAUL BOXING THING. BRING IT ON JAKE IM DEAD F****** SERIOUS F*** YOU! HIT MY TEAM UP.”

“I can’t do this s***. I feel so f****** bad for introducing Jake Paul to boxing. I f***** up. I can’t allow this to happen. I can’t. I can’t. He’s disrespecting my sport. He’s disrespecting everything. I just, I don’t know — call my team, Jake. F*** you.”

Paul didn’t hold back in his response, saying: “You seem like you’re losing your mind and acting thirsty and desperate. You’re saying you’re a billionaire when you’ve had one money fight. If you do want to fight, to me, that’s light work. You got no footwork and as long as you’ve been in the game, I’m a better boxer than you.”
