Devin Haney used to idolize Floyd Mayweather Jr. He wanted to tailor his game after “The Best Ever“, going so far as to use him as a mentor. But that relationship appears to have fully deteriorated and it hit rock bottom on Friday.

Ryan Garcia had shared footage of Haney getting pummeled by Gervonta “Tank” Davis during a sparring session. Despite Garcia admitting that Haney was only 17 at the time against the older Davis, the video has already circulated everywhere on social media.

Just a couple of days ago, Haney’s father, Bill, made a bold claim that a certain sparring session between Haney and Mayweather was a big reason why the then-40-year-old decided to walk away from boxing. Mayweather retired that same year after beating Conor McGregor.

We’re still 50 days away from Haney vs. Garcia, but it’s already been a chaotic start to the fight’s build-up.
