A time traveller theory has been doing the rounds on social media, with some fans convinced a spectator at Mike Tyson’s bout against Peter McNeeley was recording on a smartphone

Iron Mike easily defeated McNeeley 28 years ago, with the bout ending in the first round after just 89 seconds. It was Tyson’s first fight since his release from prison.
But there was certainly no ring rust on him, with his punches so fierce that McNeeley’s manager Vinnie Vecchione stepped in to protect him from long-lasting damage and get him disqualified.
A conspiracy theory has emerged in the decades since about a fan who appeared to be filming the fight on a smartphone all the way back in 1995.
The fan held up a device that looked like a modern phone while recording Tyson during his comeback fight against McNeeley. While the image is blurred, it even had black spots in similar positions to modern-day camera lenses.

This sparked the time traveller theory, with fans curious about exactly what the spectator was holding. But sadly for those who believe in the theory, Inside Edition’s YouTube channel has debunked the idea.
Presenter Les Trent addressed the conspiracy theory by confirming: “We did some digging and found out the device in the video is not a smartphone at all.
