Roy Jones Jr has warned Jake Paul that Mike Tyson can punch with all the strength of a mule’s kick.

Tyson, 57, and Paul will lock horns at the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on July 20 in an exhibition bout streamed live on Netflix.

There is a 30-year gap in their ages but boxing icons have cautioned Paul about his opponent’s immense power.

Jones Jr fought Tyson in 2020, a split decision draw which was billed as the ‘Lockdown Knockdown’ and generated over £63million in revenue.

‘Mike Tyson is still the strongest puncher that I’ve ever been in the ring with,’ he told Shane Mosley.

‘And if he hits anybody with a shot like that, they are either going out or down, especially guys who are not used to being hit like that.

‘With these types of people like Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis, these guys are bigger and can take it.

‘But Jake Paul, I don’t think he’s going to be able to take that.

‘It might hit him on the chin like that, we’ll see, but it’s going to be tough [for him].’

This assessment isn’t coming from any old weakling.

Jones Jr is a former four-weight world champion, having held titles from middleweight all the way up to heavyweight.
