Gervonta Davis has surprisingly told his old rival Ryan Garcia that he should now retire from boxing.

Garcia achieved a career-best win on Saturday night by beating Devin Haney.

The young American floored his rival three times as he shocked the boxing world and ultimately won on points.

From the very first bell Garcia seized control, hurting Haney with a left hook in the opening round.

Haney boxed well in the next few sessions, but was stunned again in the sixth and knocked down for the first time his career in round seven.

The WBC super-lightweight world champion never truly recovered from this point on.

Garcia scored two further knockdowns in rounds 10 and 11 to seal a victory not many had predicted.

However, as he missed weight before the contest, he did not claim Haney’s belt with the win.

Regardless, the result is a huge triumph for Garcia and has set him up for massive future fights.

This was his second PPV outing, having lost his first major step-up against Gervonta Davis last year.

Davis was ecstatic with Saturday’s result, given that he had an ongoing feud with Haney and was delighted to see him lose.

However, his happiness at seeing Garcia emerge victorious has not prevented him from firing a few shots in his old foe’s direction also.

In a deleted tweet, Davis wrote: “It’s best Ryan retire now. He gonna get hurt bad.”

The likely provocation for this is the fact that Garcia and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya discussed a potential rematch with Tank at their post-fight press conference.
