His reason? The event leans more towards entertainment than an authentic boxing match. “I’m not interested in watching it at all, with Netflix involved, yes, that’s good, but not in that kind of fight, I think it’s more show than fight,” Canelo articulated during an interview with YES Network.
His comments echo the sentiments of many in the boxing and MMA communities who view the fight as an untraditional matchup. Tyson, at 57, is a retired heavyweight champion known for his ferocity and historic achievements in boxing.

While acknowledging that every event has its audience, Canelo firmly believes that traditional boxing fans will not be the ones tuning in on July 20. “Everybody has an audience, this is a different audience.
Boxing fans are not going to see that (Tyson vs Paul fight), it’s for a different audience,” he added, delineating the divide between conventional boxing enthusiasts and the likely viewership of this match.
Jake Paul has marketed the fight as “the biggest fight the world will ever see,” a claim that has been met with skepticism by many, including Canelo.
